This week, we’re celebrating the incredible Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVTs) and students who make Centerville Animal Hospital the caring, skilled, and compassionate place it is every single day. 💙

Our licensed technicians do everything — from monitoring anesthesia, running lab work, and filling prescriptions to comforting nervous pets (and humans 😉). Their knowledge, dedication, and love for animals are what keep our patients healthy and our team strong. 🐾

Over the next few days, we’ll be highlighting some of the many areas our LVTs shine — from surgery to client education to pharmacy and more.

🎉🐾 Celebrating 30 Years! 🐾🎉

In 1995, Dr. Hayden made her dream a reality by opening our practice with one goal in mind: helping pets and the people who love them. Fast forward 30 years, and that dream has grown into 5 veterinarians, 40+ incredible team members, a new building, and even exotic pet care! 🦜🐾

This milestone wouldn’t be possible without the amazing staff who work side by side every day to provide the very best care for our patients and their families. 💙 From mentoring the next generation of veterinary professionals to offering gold-standard medicine, their dedication shines through in everything we do.

We’re so proud to celebrate this anniversary—cheers to Dr. Hayden, our entire team, and all of you who’ve trusted us with your pets over the years. 🐶🐱✨

🌪️🐾 September is National Disaster Preparedness Month—and believe it or not, one of the questions we hear is: What should I have ready for my pets in case of an emergency?

While hurricane season is winding down, it’s not over yet. None of us ever want to face a natural disaster, but as we know, Mother Nature has a mind of her own.
💡 A few essentials we recommend keeping on hand if evacuation becomes necessary:
✔️ Food & water
✔️ Medications and medical records
✔️ Carriers, leashes, and comfort items for pets
✔️ A pet first aid kit

Dr. Wheat began her journey with us in 2018 as a kennel caretaker, playing a vital role in the backbone of our boarding services. Over the years, she grew within our Centerville family, shining in every role she took on.

Now, she returns—not as a new face, but as a familiar one with a new title: Veterinarian. 💙 This spring, she proudly graduated from the University of Tennessee. 🥳 We couldn’t be prouder to see her come full circle and step into this next chapter right here where it all began.

🐾 Mewmue is Ready for Her Forever Home! 🐾

After winning over every heart in our hospital, our sweet resident kitty Mewmue is officially ready for adoption! 💕

Mewmue is a 10-year-old, spayed female with the softest medium-length fur and a gentle soul to match. She’s been an absolute angel during her time with us, and now that she’s received a clean bill of health—including up-to-date vaccinations and perfect routine lab work—she’s ready to find her forever family.

We believe Mewmue will thrive best as the only pet in a calm, loving home where she can soak up all the attention.

We aim to fill prescription requests within 24 hours, but you're not alone—many pets need a little extra support this time of year. Check your pet’s medication supply today and let us know if you need a refill. 🥳

🚨 HEAT STROKE WARNING FOR PETS 🚨

As temps continue to climb this week, it’s critical to remember: heat stroke in pets can come on fast—and it can be deadly.

🌡️ Early signs to watch for:

▪Bright red gums or tongue
▪Excessive panting or drooling
▪Rapid or labored breathing

If not addressed, these can escalate to:
⚠️ Muscle tremors
⚠️ Seizures
⚠️ Dizziness or stumbling
⚠️ Collapse or even loss of consciousness
⚠️ Possible death

🐾 Prevention tips:
❌ Avoid walking your pet between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM—this is the hottest part of the day, and pavement can burn paws fast.
✅ If you must be outside, keep walks brief, stay in cool, shaded areas, and bring plenty of water.
🌡️ Ideal Walking Temps: For most breeds, it's generally safe to walk them in temperatures up to 68°F. However, always adjust based on your pet’s breed, age, and any known health conditions, as some pets are more sensitive to heat than others.

Let’s keep our furry friends safe this summer—if you suspect heat stroke, seek emergency care immediately. 💛🐶🐾
