Thanks to Governor Glenn Youngkin’s official proclamation, February is a time to highlight the critical role spaying and neutering plays in reducing pet overpopulation and keeping animals safe, healthy, and loved.

At Chesapeake Humane Society, we are proud to operate a low-cost spay/neuter clinic, ensuring that this essential service is accessible to pet owners in our community. Since 2008, we have altered more than 65,000 animals, preventing the birth of tens of thousands of unwanted and unexpected pets.

Spaying or neutering doesn’t just help reduce overpopulation—it also:
✅ Increases lifespan by reducing the risk of certain cancers
✅ Reduces roaming & aggressive behaviors
✅ Prevents unwanted litters
✅ Decreases spraying, marking, and mounting

We are incredibly grateful to Tidewater Home Funding, LLC for celebrating their 25th anniversary by supporting CHS. Their entire team visited our shelter to drop off generous donations, learn more about our mission, and spend time with our shelter pets.
