Well, Tito is still going down hill so we headed to the vet. Unfortunately he's lost 1 lb in a week and the new immune suppressant drug has to be stopped due to the side effects being severe.

We are in between a rock and a hard place. This boy has been going through it and it hurts me that I can't just make him better. We are trying this food to help stop the diarhhea and will just love him through whatever this IMHA diagnosis brings.

Tito update: Day 4 of the new medication

I woke up this morning to his pen being covered in diarrhea and vomit. Unfortunately, this is what we've been watching him closely for due to the meds side effect being able to put him at more health risk. Today our vet suggested us reducing the meds to every other day and if that doesn't improve his condition....(well, we will discuss that when we get there )

Our spicy little boy is feeling rough and it breaks my heart. For now he is comfortable and we will soak up every moment we can. We appreciate good vibes and prayers 🙏

📖: Jack was found neglected in a digusting trailer. Sitting in 5 inches of feces/urine. Starved , while food sit across from his cage on a table. He has came so far and is a happy healthy puppy who needs his own family. He loves balls and snacks, he is a social butterfly, rides great in a car, crate trained, he loves to be around his people and cuddle.

If I was suppose to pick anything up from you or for you this week I truly apologize. My jeep spent a week in the shop only for it to mess up again this a.m. Now I have to take it to another shop because something is going on with my voltage and wires (they can't start work on it til Thursday). I'm weeks behind at this point and I'm sorry.

Came home to 6 boxes of dog food being delivered and no name on the gift papers. Thank you whoever you are and the person who donated $100 via PayPal! Also, a shout out to Too Broke Girls Dog Rescue for donating items for our friend/foster who had the house fire. I'm beyond grateful 🙏 ❤️

Tito Update:
He has been diagnosed with IMHA.

What is IMHA?
Immune system malfunction: The dog's immune system mistakenly targets and destroys its own red blood cells.
Anemia: This destruction of red blood cells results in a severe shortage, or anemia, which is life-threatening if left untreated.
Types: IMHA can be primary (with no known cause) or secondary (triggered by an underlying condition).

Our vet does feel that this has been caused by his progressed heart worms and we are limited with treatments we can do because of his severe heart murmur. We are starting him on a 2nd immune suppressant drug and are keeping close eye on him to make sure he doesn't go into heart failure.

The good news is his organs look ok for now and though his red blood cells count is low, it appears we have caught this before it's gotten to bad. We will continue to treat and love him for as long as his little soul allows.

Ongoing treatments will add up and we appreciate any donations made. God bless!
