Behavioral Modification!

Behavioral Modification is a training process that involves changing your dog’s emotional current state of mind.
We are addressing the moment of fear, anxiety or aggression by teaching our dog positive responses to specific triggers.
We are working with desensitization, which is the gradual controlled exposure to its triggers.
Behavioral Modification also includes counter conditioning, which is the moment where we pair the triggers with a positive reward such as treats or praise to create a new positive moment.
It will require patience, consistency and learning environmental management as well as understanding our dog’s triggers.

Unfortunately, Miss Bitty is back at CCAD at age 16 due to her owner’s failing health. This tiny (5 pounds!) senior tuxedo lady likes to sit on the couch and look out the window. She is also very sweet and affectionate and adores being petted!

Her previous owner’s son said, “Bitty likes to play the flopper game as my dad would call it. She would flop over on the floor and meow for her pets and scratches. He would always call her a lil flopper.”

Miss Bitty would love to find a purrmanent home for her golden years! Apply here to adopt: https://forms.gle/4U19x6VuytCXxUzn9

We are also looking for a FOSTER for this sweetheart! Apply here: https://forms.gle/KxiSEC9gFgMppXzj8

Davey - 5 months, male - Border Collie x - NSW/ ACT

Davey is a beautiful border collie cross pup. Davey arrived in care immediately showing his goofy, loving and very affectionate personality. Since in care he has thrived, gained weight and now has a beautiful jet black shiny coat. 🐾

Davey loves his foster sibling and enjoys playing with toys and is very food motivated. He is very much a shadow dog, following his foster carer humans everywhere they go, especially out in the garden.

Davey loves exploring the bush and wont stray far loping along at your heels and checking in on where to go next. Davey loves zoomies in the yard but also loves having many naps on a nice comfy bed, he is happy outside or inside the home. Davey gets on well with the resident cranky cat.

Davey sleeps in a night crate all night without accidents. He has met other dogs without a fuss and was very relaxed at his vet check appointment, impressing the vet too.

Davey is now ready to find his new family and start his new life. He is a very sweet, loyal and laid back kind of lad that will really bring lots of fun to a home.

Vaccinated, Flea/Tick treated, and wormed.

Complete an adoption application today and we’ll organise for you to talk to his foster family and see if he’s the perfect fit for your home!

Please note completing the form does not place you under any obligation to complete the adoption process.

Dog training - helping human and pet moving forward!

How did it all start?

It all started years and years and years ago. I alway adopted shelter animals cats and dogs. They come with an unknown past, you don't know what happened originally in their life. You may be lucky to receive a small amount of background information but it will take a long time to see the real picture. The real picture is not always the prettiest. That will cause a number of behavioral issues. I was always able to work with them and turn the dog into a happy and confident pet. I worked with their reactivity,, their fears. I helped them in building trust and confidence. Everybody always asked me and told me stories about their pet(s) and I gave them advice and provided the resources for everyone to work on the issues that at one time or the other arose. I always loved animals and I always will.

A friend kept bugging me over and over again since this is my passion why don't you turn it into your business. So I did but prior to that I had a 3 month apprentice ship and I took several different classes in order to become more efficient in my my over all handling and training skills in regards to people and dogs. I also received a confirmation that what I was already doing was correct. It made me feeling good but I also learned even more about human behavior as well as K9. It is very important to understand the different components in order to create the team of handler and K9. The fact is that the majority of us say it's a dog so what's the big deal, some breeds are just bad, they are vicious, they need to be band. NO they are not due to the fact that hundreds of years ago every breed was bred for a specific purpose. There is a difference between the toy breed and the working dog. Most of us are not aware of that and that is the reason why certain behaviors create a bad picture. The majority of breeds will require an experienced handler that understands certain behaviors. It is my responsibility to help and explain to the owner to understand why it is not that easy to take a Rottweiler a Pitbull or a GSD for a walk without teaching them not to pull, not to react to a specific case scenario. For example the earlier mentioned breeds have a higher drive them the toy breeds. Owners need to learn and should always resurge when considering to adopt or purchase a specific breed on their original purpose. I am that person that will teach a handler what the differences are and how to change certain reactions. The majority of owners respond to me with oh I did know that but that explains why he or she does this or that. Being a professional dog trainer refers to teaching owners how to build a foundation and deal with a dogs inner drive and behavior in order to create the well mannered K9.

I love what I do, it is my passion and I am here to give the voiceless a voice, that is all about me, the person who I am and what I am implementing to help owner and dog to be able to move forward!
