HOW MUCH FOR A KITTEN?

Let me say a few words to you, yes to you, the person writing an email, just to ask for the price. The person who calls and after hearing a price surprisingly says: "I can buy a cheaper kitten elsewhere". I speak to you too; the person who doesn't care about papers because I want "just a pet".

No cat is “just a pet”.

Behind every purebred kitten there is a BREEDER. I use capital letters to differentiate a breeder from a pet factory or mill. A reputable breeder will not breed undocumented cats, which does not protect the integrity of the breed. Registration (papers) are lineage records that document the bloodline and enable one to investigate possible health problems in the lineage. When you tell a breeder that you don't care about papers, you are really telling them that you care no less about the kitten's health, just the cheapest thing you can find! When you buy a kitten from a reputable and high quality breeder, that breeder is responsible for the health of every kitten; this breeder is skipping the holidays, missing out on sleeping and most of his personal home space has been converted into space for his cats. The truly passionate breeder who loves what he breeds puts all of his heart and soul into it. Not only with kittens that are sold, but also with every customer who has a piece of his heart and is now a member of his extended family. Breeders worry about their babies after they leave and take them back without question.

A breeder will "get their hands dirty", often burdened with everything that comes with giving birth. Because that's what life is about ... In the midst of birth and death is life. The wheel that keeps turning. A breeder carries out tests, x-rays, analyzes, emergency operations, vaccinations, litter, family trees, deworming and microchips for his kittens and has them assessed by specialists.

Last but not least, a breeder chooses the family lucky enough to have one of their kittens. Yes, you read that right. A real breeder chooses who to sell to because he doesn't make any money selling it. There is no compensation that can offset the investments made by a breeder. Hence, they need to be sure that they fit properly. Often saying no more than yes ... A good breeder has different criteria for those who want to continue their bloodline. Why? Since breeding is not a responsibility to ever be taken lightly, it is a lifestyle choice reserved ONLY for the devoted few who are willing to sacrifice.

Because a cat is never "just a pet" it is the breeder's legacy, a little boy's best friend, a protector for little girls, therapy for the elderly, a family member, someone's whole world !!!

We are so excited to introduce our new future queens and show girls. Ranchcats Genevieve of Velloso is a black(brown) Classic Tabby and Housemainecoons Nova of Velloso is a Black Tortie Smoke. We will be taking these two to their first show in June.

Alright!!! Here we go!

3 weeks old. This is where it starts to get exciting. All of the babies have opened their eyes and their ears are almost to the top of their head. They have been practicing getting all four legs and feet underneath them to start walking properly instead of scooting around on their bellies.

They are becoming more aware of themselves and their siblings which means they are starting to play!! We will introduce some soft toys next week to let them start exploring.

We will also be introducing soft food this week so they can try to start using their baby teeth that are coming in.

Now for personalities-

Evangeline- initiates play and is still very vocal
Ella- quiet and sweet but will hold her ground when playing.
Easton- explores and initiates play
Edgar- likes to be part of the pack
Everett- still loves people
Eleanor- thinks she’s tough and tries to hiss. 😂
Elijah- continues to be a milk hog
Emerson- very outgoing and tries to explore

Within the next few weeks we will start to see personalities really emerge as they start to eat, play, and litter box train. Next Saturday will mark 4 weeks and the beginning of official reservations!!! 🙌

For those who are on the waitlist, I will be reaching out individually this week to start discussing who you have you eyes on and which kitten will be a perfect match for you.

Sansa continues to be with me to recover. She is now going into the vet 2 times a week to have hydrotherapy and a bandage change. When she is completely healed in a couple weeks she will be spayed and retired. She is now looking for her forever home.

Our 5 day old kitten morning routine.
1- say hi to momma, check her for engorgement, and give her a post natal vitamin
2- check kittens for infection in eyes, umbilical cord/belly button, and bum.
3- weigh kittens to make sure they are gaining weight. We also did a collar change because the newborn ones are now too small.
4- santize queening pen and change p*e pads
5- let the smaller kittens nurse alone for a little bit before we add the milk hogs.
6- check again in 4 hours

Another kitten update!! Venus’s kittens are 4 weeks old!! They are walking, playing, and starting to nibble on mommas soft food. All of her kittens are available. Sansa’s kittens are 2 weeks old! Eyes are fully open, their ears are continuing to move to the top of their heads, and they are practicing walking. We have decided to keep Dreamer as a future Velloso show queen. Sansa’s kittens have a waitlist open.

KITTEN UPDATE!!! Venus’s triplets are 3 weeks old. Yay!! They are now available for adoption. They are becoming more independent. Walking, sitting up proper and starting to play with each other. Sansa’s litter of 10. Yes, 10! Are 1 week old. Their eyes are stating to open and they mostly just eat and sleep. Apologies for the milky faces on a couple. I had just bottle fed a few to help momma out. Dash’s eyes are open, he was just throwing a temper tantrum and didn’t want his picture taken. 😂

The “C” litter show kittens are 1 week old. Say hello to Chuck, Chip, and Charlotte. All kittens are growing and gaining weight!! Good job to first time momma Venus!!

RW GCH Housemainecoons Venus of Velloso finally had her kittens. We were expecting 3 maybe 4. The first kitten was stillborn. 😢 when going back to the X-ray to confirm how many kittens we should be looking for, we noticed that one of the necks looked damaged. Very quickly after we had Chip. He looks like he is a normal paw Blue silver Mackerel Tabby. Then Chuck joined us shortly after. He is a normal paw black mackerel tabby. Possibly a silver. Really defined markings. Venus settled and tended to her twin boys. And then SURPRISE!!! 8 hours later- Charlotte was welcomed into the cattery. She is a normal paw black torbie. Possibly silver as well. Sadly no polydactyl in this litter. All three babies are doing wonderful and getting fat already. Happy birthday to these angels on 8-9-22.
