🐾 Available for Adoption🐾
Richmond, VA

Hey friends, we are coming to you today with a big ask. We are looking for some unicorn adopters.

🐱Meet bonded brothers PB & Jaye.
PB is the tabby and Jaye is orange and white.

These boys are pretty perfect.

🐱They love laser pointers and cat tunnels, and batting around balls. They eat together (fancy feast and Purina one) and sleep together and love their cat fountain. Their requests also include a bowl of water for playing in.

They're friendly and snuggly, and all around great personalities. Their foster mom sings their praises every day!

❤️‍🩹Unfortunately, PB and Jaye both have Feline Leukemia.

Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) is a retrovirus belonging to the coronavirus subfamily. FeLV only affects cats and cannot be spread to humans or other animals. Cats with FELV can live a shortened lifespan, but with quality care these boys can still live a happy life. This means indoor only, low stress, and lots of love and careful attention to any changes. It will probably mean an extra vet visit here and there.

🐾We are looking for the right adopters willing to open their hearts to these boys.

We are looking for an adopter who already has a cat (or cats) with FELV, or who have no other cats in the home to adopt the boys together.

🐾All Tiny Paws RVA kittens are treated for fleas and parasites, receive age appropriate vaccines, and are fixed before going home.

Kittens must be indoor only and keep their claws. As a bonded pair, PB & Jaye MUST be adopted together. No exceptions.

🐱 If you're interested in adopting this special pair, You can find more info and apply on our website.

Please share far and wide to help these babies find their perfect forever family. We know that a special family is out there, and we can't wait to meet them! 🧡🧡

TINY PAWS RVA MERCH!?
AND ICE CREAM!?
AND shopping for a cause!

YES! THIS SUNDAY, 12/21, from 4-6 pm come join us at RUBY SCOOPS to do a little last minute Christmas shopping and support tiny paws rva.

We'll have shirts, beanies, mugs, ornaments, and more treasures for someone you love, or yourself! (We don't judge 😉). Everything goes right back into the rescue so we can put a little money in the bank account as we work to save more babies. Plus, this is the LAST DAY of the Ruby Scoops season, so buy some ice cream to get you through the months they're closed.

*No kittens will be at the event, sorry*

Will you be there? We can't wait to see you! 🐱🍨🩷

🐾All Tiny Paws RVA kittens are treated for fleas and parasites, tested for FIV/FELV, receive age appropriate vaccines, and are fixed before going home.

Kittens must be indoor only, keep their claws, and single kittens must be adopted to a home that already has another active cat OR in pairs. Priority is given to adopters looking to adopt 2 kittens.

Last week, I had so many exciting and fun posts ready to go. I really meant it.

And then everything went sideways and I had no energy to post.

On Tuesday evening, right after I had posted about Blanche and her slow but incrementally forward improvements, she started to crash again.

I came home from a friend's to find her severely worse than I had left her.

For hours, I stayed up with her. I administered fluids, I had her on extra heat, and every 4 minutes I rubbed sugar water on her gums and gave her drops of formula. A few times she perked up for a moment, but just as quickly she'd lay back down.

And finally, somewhere around 2am, she made it clear it was time. I made sure she was warm and cozy, and I told her it was okay to go. She could be with her sister again.

Loss is a part of rescue. You can't do what we do without it. I've lost many kittens before and I know I'll lose more in the future.

But this one has hit me so hard. It could be that I haven't lost a kitten personally in awhile, it could be the time of year, or just how long and hard we fought for this one. Maybe it doesn't matter why. This particular loss hurts even worse, and that's just what it is.

There is never any regret in taking these kittens, or doing everything that I could to try to save them. It's simply grief that they had to go through it at all.

I'm hoping to actual have some fun posts later this week, like I promised last week. But I'm taking the necessary time to grieve and giving myself a little extra, so please be patient with me.

And please, please, please... Spay and neuter. For Blanche, for her sister, and for every animal that doesn't deserve this outcome. 🩵

A little over 2 weeks ago, we pulled 2 little kittens that were facing euthanasia from an overcrowded shelter.

By that evening, one had started having some stomach problems. We started meds and extra care, and she started to improve.

By the end of the next week, they were both worse. They were losing weight, everything was going through them, and they were not the happy active kittens they should be. It was the week before Thanksgiving, which is never an easy time for this stuff to happen (but really, is it ever?) We moved them to a temporary foster with more medical experience to get additional care. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, sweet baby Sophia passed away.

Blanche remained in poor condition. Her amazing temporary foster worked incredibly hard to keep her stable. She went to the vet again, we ran tests, we started additional meds. All tests came back negative, and our best guess is that she has some nameless, nasty virus circulating her system. And when you weigh less than 4 sticks of butter, it's hard to fight these things.

That doesn't stop us from doing everything we can.

Blanche is currently with me at Tiny Paws HQ, tucked into a nice cozy incubator. She's just barely over a pound, her fur is greasy because she doesn't have the energy to groom herself, and she's tired. She doesn't want to play like a kitten her age normally would.

And yet she continues to fight.

Every few hours I make a new dish of food and pull medications. I open the incubator enough to pet her and talk to her while she eats, but not enough to let her little residence cool down.

The other night, she stuck her head out and meowed at me. It was faint. You could hear that she was tired.

But I stuck my head closer to hear her little rumbling purr. She took the opportunity to give me a head bump, and I turned me into a puddle. She's still fighting.

Every day Tiny Paws RVA works hard to save the tiniest babies with the tiniest paws. They might be small but they matter. And they have the biggest will to live.

And today, on Giving Tuesday, we'd love your help to continue the work we do. If you consider us worth your donation, please know how thankful we are. 💜

SPARROW is ready to fly into your heart!

🐦This handsome gray guy is charming and funny. He's curious and confident, boldly leading the other kittens into unexplored lands (usually the bathroom and laundry room, among other places).

He'll chatter and chirp away at you as you get food ready or tell him not to mess with something. When you pick him up he's almost always already purring.

He's going to be someone's best friend, and you'd be silly not to make him yours!

🐾 Sparrow has been treated for fleas and parasites, tested negative for FIV/FELV, received age appropriate vaccines, and is neutered.

🐈‍⬛ Sparrow is ready to go home as soon as we get an approved application, so hurry up and apply!
Can't adopt right now? Please share to help him find his forever home! 💚

P.S. before anyone asks, he's not a Russian blue, and neither are the dozen other solid gray kitties in other rescues. 😉 He's just a plain old, solid gray, domestic short hair trash cat and we love him just the same.

There's a lot of tiny paws rva merch in my house...
Shirts, beanies, mugs, stickers, plus ceramic pet bowls and ornaments made by my mom.

If I could finagle a little pop up shop for a few hours one weekend afternoon, would people be interested in coming to shop and support the rescue?

Not sure on the exact location. Would it be weird to have a little tent set up somewhere? 😂

Give me your thoughts (and suggestions of a place that might let me host such a thing!) in the comments! ❤️💚

BUSTER is going to have his heart busted if he doesn't get adopted soon. 😭

🐈‍⬛This sweet, sleek tabby boy is so handsome. He's playful and goofy, and loves other cats. He's always snuggling with the cats in his foster home and does well taking corrections when he gets a little full of himself. His foster home even has a bird and he does well with him!

🐈‍⬛Buster has been treated for fleas and parasites, tested negative for FIV/FELV, vaccinated, and neutered.

🐾Interested? Apply to adopt at TinyPawsRVA.org/available. If you can't adopt, please share to help him find his forever home (for the holidays!? 🤞🏼)
