๐จ I need fosters ๐จ
Maybe I'm riding high from the fact that our fundraiser is going โจ amazing โจ (more on that later!) Or maybe I'm just feeling a little too confident after the last time I asked for a dog foster and I got one. But either way, I'm trying again.
I need a few good fosters. Desperately.
I laid in bed the other night and, instead of falling asleep, I scrolled rescue group after rescue group looking at their calls for help. So many sweet little faces, none deserving the potential fate coming their way. ๐ I can't help them all, but I can help some.
So here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to outline a couple situations I could really use fosters for.
๐ถ Situation 1 ๐ถ
2 little puppies
-12-14 weeks
-Mixed breed (and no, that's not code for pittie).
-they look to be medium/large breed but for now they're little
-would love a foster for both but if you already have a dog just taking one is fine.
-you need to be patient. They're puppies. They have no skills and no training. You'll need to start them on that, and you gotta do it a certain way (mine ๐).
-they're ridiculously cute. Might be fuzzy? I don't know.
๐ถ Situation 2 ๐ถ
A young/middle aged adult, smaller dog
-a few shelters have smaller breed dogs that need help.
-there's a few, but all of them are been 10-35lbs.
-some are young (think 6-18 months), some are older
-many of them will also need patience as they learn house training and getting used to a new environment
-if you're interested in this type of situation, we can match with what sounds good
๐ฑ Situation 3 ๐ฑ
-i have a few requests for kittens that need rescue
-all eating on their own, all between 2-4 kittens
๐พ The details:
-Tiny Paws RVA covers all basic supply needs, medical care payments and decisions, and handles the adoption process and selection
-You provide a safe, patient, loving place for these little babies to hang out away from other pets. For kittens, a half bath is just perfect.
-you'll need to occasionally take them to vet appointments
-your current pets must be UTD on vaccines and fixed.
-fosters come without training and sometimes looking a little rough. You have to be okay with the gross side of things. You'll be rewarded with all the love and fun you can imagine.
-must be able to make trips to Bon Air & Richmond from time to time.
-great communication skills.
๐พ Frequently asked questions
-Can I tell you what I'm looking for and you can match me?
Absolutely! If you're willing to Foster, I will figure out what works for you and what you want, and find that thing.
- What if I go in wanting to Foster fail in it doesn't work out?
As long as you can hold on to them until they get adopted, that's okay. Either way it's a win.
- Can I see what they look like first?
No. Because honestly, it doesn't matter. These animals need rescue and if they don't they face the potential to die. I'm not being dramatic. If you're going to base fostering off of what they look like, you are not right for Tiny Paws.
- I've never done this before and I have lots of questions. Is that okay?
Yes! I love answering questions for new Fosters. I'm truly serious. I don't think I'd do this job well otherwise.
โ Please understand we might not be able to accept all fosters that apply. While we want to take every person and save every animal, we have to balance how many animals we can feasibly take on and who will be a good fit. โค๏ธ

Fostering is a lot of work, but so rewarding! We can't rescue kittens without fosters. Read on for more about what fostering entails!ย
