Did you know that if your horse is enrolled in one of the colic reimbursement programs (Colicare by Smartpak, Colic Coverage by Platinum, etc), they require an annual physical examination, including an oral examination, performed by a licensed veterinarian? Some programs also require an annual f***l egg count.

Let us know if your horse is enrolled in one of these programs when you schedule your next routine appointment so we can make sure they (and you) are covered!

Exciting news! We are now proudly offering CAT scans in the field. You just provide the cat and we’ll do the rest!

We would like to thank our fabulous clients for attending our recent seminar on equine gastroscopy and gastric ulcers! Of course, thank you to the brilliant Dr. Hoyt Cheramie for his time and expertise! We had a fantastic time learning about the most current research and further developing our skills in gastroscopy!

Thank you to Boehringer Ingelheim Equine Health and Horse Park of New Jersey at Stone Tavern, Inc. for sponsoring and hosting the event, and special thanks to our patients and clients at Bit'O'Woods Farm and Top Shelf Farm LLC for allowing us to perform gastroscopes using new techniques with Dr. Cheramie!

UPDATES GUIDELINES AVAILABLE 📢

The AAEP has issued revised Internal Parasite Control Guidelines to help minimize the risk of parasitic disease and maintain the effectiveness of current drugs for as long as possible by delaying further development of anthelmintic resistance.

The updated guidelines account for recent advances in knowledge concerning increased anthelmintic resistance and optimization of parasite control management practices. They also address common misconceptions and offer parasite control program recommendations for senior horses (over 15 years old), mature horses (between 5 and 15 years old), and young horses (under 5 years old).

Read more at: https://aaep.org/post/aaep-publishes-updated-internal-parasite-control-guidelines/

The guidelines were reviewed and updated by the AAEP Internal Parasite Control Guidelines Task Force, chaired by Dr. Nielsen and comprised of 10 AAEP members predominantly board certified in veterinary internal medicine, veterinary parasitology and/or veterinary microbiology. We thank them for their incredibly important work!
