Having a moment of vulnerability with you all. You're all here because we believe in the same thing: Pets are family.
It's been 33 days since my Kington’s passing. Doing my best to heal, process, and make it through the waves of emotions with everything going on with my Edmond who within a week was diagnosed with cancer.
Through this time, making it through exhausting days, but still somehow sleepless nights, as well as therapy, I’ve come to respect and honor my heart and feelings.
Pets are family. It’s really as simple as that.
Once you accept this to be a truth; the grieving, the pain, and taking time off work all makes sense. If others accepted this to be true, then our societal norms of how we handle loss would apply and be easier understood. I knew I needed to write, create awareness, and share the one thing that gets you through grief like this: friends, family, and a belief system. I’m creating awareness, validation, free tools, and for those interested I’m writing a book.
I’m not an author or a graphic designer. I’m just a fur momma wanting to help others by writing authentically, figuring out wix web design, and a beautiful human in Bangladesh creating my pamphlets from my word files and photos. This will be passion project of mine moving forward with 4 priorities:
1. Validate those going through this
2. Help Friends and Family on how to love on someone going through this, even when they don’t understand it. It’s not “just a dog”.
3. Have pets included in employer bereavement plans. Not additional time, inclusion is a win.
4. Help vet clinics with tools and resources on ways to support their patients and training their teams on what a traumatic experience this can be and considerations to ponder on processes.
Thank you all for being here. For loving our family. I hope my project helps you, or someone you love, and inspires you to share love and kindness.
With love,
Erika

Chris Happy Father's Day! Every day should be celebrated with you. You are an amazing dad to our piebies. From unique diets, daily pills, watching for fevers, giving Mishka subcue fluids, and oh the ear cleanings. We've had lows...some that included oxygen chambers on two, but they are all outweighed by the highs. The laughs we get each day, the joy in their eyes when we come home, or when their barkbox comes. Our kids truly are so LOVED.
I'm so in love with you and the life we've made. This is us and it's amazing. But...for those moments a kid eats a couch or I decide I want to save the world or at least every puppy in it...here's a beer to you my love.
I got Chris custom beer labels for when he may need a beer in our life. 😂
**Labels are from ElleeDees and can be done any brand. All about supporting small business!!!! Photo in comments so you can read descriptions. They are awesome.**

***************Announcement*************
Thinking about the events of last night and all the latest hate witnessed across the Nation. The best way to make change is to spread love and kindness. We can each do our own part. Even small efforts really matter.
So I'm honored to share today our love WE created. We hit our goal! We have sold enough shirts to buy a vest to keep a K9 safe. Meeting with the police department Tuesday to choose announcement date and working with Dogs On Duty (an incredible organization who protects so many K9s) to get the perfect vest.
LOVE was sent all over the country and even Canada! I can't tell you how emotional it is to see a community come together. The energy from each of you with every shirt order. I could truly feel the love.
If you've ordered a shirt please send selfies! I'm creating a collage to give the officer.
Thank you all again. You all restore the faith in humanity. We are stronger together.
