Loose Leash Walking continued
1. Once you have mastered heel (walk next to my left side) in the driveway move on to the side walk and go farther from the house continuing to keep distractions low.
2. Discourage any socialization with your dog while he/she is on leash. They should learn that YOU are who they should pay attention to.
3. Go short distance and stop, short distance and stop. Keeping communication going and making sure the walk is under control.
4. If using the harness technique; when you want to relax and have play time take the collar off, clip the leash to the harness and have fun!
As always if you would like more help please reach out to our professional trainer!

Begin proper Loose Leash Walking.
1. Have some obedience already, don’t make leash walking the first skill you teach.
2. Start in the house, then move to the driveway. Try for as little distractions as possible in the beginning.
3. Use lots of high value treats that will be reduced and eliminated later as the skill becomes learned.
