Luca's first visit and first big boy haircut... all in the new van. I accidentally forgot to take a before picture.

Mobile Grooming is a more personal approach to grooming your dog; grooming only one dog at a time. There are no cages for your "fur baby" to wait in until it's their turn. I groom in a state of the art mobile van that brings the salon to you! With over 20 years of experience grooming my own show dogs and over 11 years of experience grooming professionally, I'm here to make your dog comfortable and look and smell good!

A new chapter in Akita My Heart with Emma and Lacy still as my co-pilots.. even if Emma's just on the van and in my heart.
Just checked in to the hotel in Indiana. Gee, I wonder what I'm doing in Indiana...? Check back tomorrow for an update and pictures, but if you know don't spoil the surprise, please.
I hope that everyone is okay after the storm yesterday. We are fine, however we don't have electricity, like most people I'm guessing. The way that the electrical poles, wires and trees fell, I'm not able to get my grooming van out of my street - the hanging wires are too low for my tall van. Right after the storm, no vehicles were able to enter or exit my street for several hours. Until this changes, unfortunately I'll have to reschedule all appointments for this week. I'm so sorry for the inconvenience.
Here he is, our newest grandson, Samuel Louis (not Larry, lol) born last night at 9:51pm, 7 lbs 8 oz and 19" long.
Grand baby #3 is on the way but is taking his good ol' sweet time. Meanwhile, we have Ava and Drew over here until Larry (not his real name!) arrives. Prayers for Kara, Steve and the baby are appreciated. ๐๐
It's official! I just put the deposit down on the new Akita My Heart grooming van. If all goes well, it'll be making its debut around the end of August/beginning of September.
Just a heads up - grand baby #3 is due soon. With that in mind, I may have to reschedule at the last minute because we will be watching the first two grandkids when #3 arrives. This little boy isn't due for another few weeks, but he's trying his darnedest to come sooner rather than later. As always, thank you for your understanding.
Another happy client after getting a good bath, blow out, nail grinding and ears cleaned. Tilly was so happy... once her Spa Day was done.
Not all dogs get short haircuts... Henry, a Coton de Tulea, is sporting a drop coat and Watson, a Shiba/Pom/Pug mix, just needed a good bath, brush and blow out.
Kolbe's first haircut, before and after... he was so brave ๐
Here's an article from the AKC with information and tips for you and your pets for the upcoming eclipse on Monday. Since we are in the path for a total eclipse, it was suggested to me that I might want to post something. Although this article was written for the last total eclipse in 2017, the advice is still valid.
ย The solar eclipse that will occur on August 21, 2017 is a once-in-a-lifetime event that you canโt miss โ literally! While many of us wil

I just wanted to let everyone know that prices will be going up soon. Since starting my business 9 years ago, I really haven't done my best at keeping my prices competitive and, more importantly, keeping up with my expenses. In order to stay in business, this means I need to raise prices. After researching what other mobiles in the area are charging as well as what local store front groom shops are charging, it's been a real eye opener for me. I will notify you of the increases before they go into effect. That way if you choose to go elsewhere, no one is inconvenienced. Thank you for your understanding.
I'm so happy that I have this picture of Emma from 2022. Happy New Year to allโฃ๏ธ May 2024 be a blessed year for everyoneโฃ๏ธ
Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and a belated Happy Hanukkah.
* photo is not mine - it's been going around many Akita fb pages and I had to share it *
Does anyone else have a problem this time of year convincing your dog that you AREN'T late feeding them (because of the time change)? Piper's convinced that I'm starving her because it's now about 25 minutes past the time that used to be her dinnertime...
I don't dye dogs, but this is hysterical! ๐คฃ๐

Effing Public Safety has responded to numerous calls about a tiger loose in the Morning Wood subdivision. This is Neighbor Allen Fielding's Dog Roscoe that he striped to keep his ex and in-laws away from his cookout.
Roscoe is friendly and no danger to the Effing community.
Lol
The long wait for the new generator has ended. It came in and was installed this past Wednesday, just in time for this terrible weather. Piper's not happy that I broke out the dog boots and jacket, as you can see from the picture.
Thank you to everyone for their patience, understanding and flexibility for the past 5 months. Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone.
It's a sad day here at Akita My Heart. The Akita of our heart, Emma, crossed the Rainbow Bridge unexpectedly last night. It was sudden and heartbreaking but now we have a new furry guardian angel. "Emma" Ch. Okami's Once Upon A Time CGC TKN - March 31, 2012 - November 28, 2022
Day 2 of grooming without a generator... I don't know how some mobiles do this plugging in thing on purpose! I'm predicting that I'll have new muscles from wrapping up the cords after each house by the time the new generator arrives... or, my arms will fall off. It's a toss up. Lol
It's official.. my generator quit on Monday. It was rude to not give me advanced notice. I got the call this morning from Youngstown (where it was pronounced officially dead) and have been on the phone nonstop all day.
A new generator has been ordered but, because of supply chain issues, I won't get it for about 18 weeks. Prior to that, I contacted the company that built my van to inquire about ordering a new one. They are having similar issues, and instead of the 5 week time period of ordering to delivery, their window is now 6-8 months.
Once I get the van back, I'll be experimenting on a work around. I have the ability to plug in at people's houses, but I need 2 separate outlets on 2 separate breakers (15 or 20 amps) for it to work. Once summer is over, I'll only need one outlet. I'm going to experiment with a few other things this weekend but this is where I'm at right now. I'll keep everyone posted as things progress.
From fluffy puppy to Little Miss - today was Daisy's first Spa Day. ๐ฉ๐พ๐
PSA - I just got off of the phone with a human representative from my bank. If you know me, you know that I'm extremely NOT TECH SAVVY so this set up red flags immediately. Below is a screen shot of a phishing scam text that I received twice today. If you get a text like this from your bank, DO NOT CLICK ON THE LINK. IT'S A SCAM.
Baby Drew update: He finally came home Monday night. I got this pic of both grandkids yesterday morning. Thank you so much for your prayers, good vibes and thoughts. You'll never know how much we appreciate it, including the texts to check up on him. ๐๐
Baby Drew update. Our little guy is turning into a trouble maker... his breathing tube has had to be repositioned several times this week. Kara was getting very frustrated until yesterday... when they caught Drew trying to pull it out himself. The little stinker thinks he knows better than the doctors and nurses. They are set to remove it tomorrow. Then, he'll have some sort of test on Tues to make sure there are no leaks from where they did the surgery. If all goes well with that, then he'll be able to finally get fed - he's been on an IV since he was born. If THAT goes well, hopefully he'll be able to go home in about another week or so. There hasn't been much to report until now, so that's why I haven't been giving updates. Keep the prayers coming. We truly appreciate it and believe in the power of prayers. ๐๐
UPDATE: The surgery started later than anticipated today but everything seems to have gone well. He's still at the Cleveland Clinic in NICU and will be monitored until Monday. If everything goes well, our little man will be able to be fed - he's been getting fed thru his umbilical cord with an iv up to this point. The best part of today was that Kara was finally able to hold him for 2 hours, right before the surgery. She hasn't been able to do that since he was born on Friday. Thank you for your prayers, good vibes and well wishes.
