Meet Milo, our 11-month-old Labrador Retriever Collie mix with a heart as big as his puppy spirit! Milo is an absolute bundle of joy, overflowing with love and goofiness that will surely melt your heart. From the outside, you'd never guess that this little guy has been facing some challenges.
Milo was born with a few quirks that make his journey a bit different. When he walks, he wobbles with an adorable enthusiasm that showcases his immense spirit. However, when excitement kicks in, Milo has a tough time controlling his legs, making each playful step a bit more challenging.
Currently, in a shelter, Milo is on the lookout for a foster or a foster-to-adopt family that can provide the love and support he needs to navigate life with his unique traits. We recently consulted with Dr. Fry, a Veterinary Neurologist, to understand Milo's unique situation better. Together, we've devised a game plan to help Milo lead a happy and fulfilling life. The first crucial step on this journey is to get Milo an MRI, which will provide valuable insights into his condition.
Here's where we need your support. The estimated cost for Milo's MRI, as provided by Dr. Fry, ranges from $3,497 to $4,303. This is a significant financial hurdle for us, but we are determined to do everything we can to give Milo the chance at a more comfortable and active life.
How You Can Help:
Donate: Every dollar brings us one step closer to providing Milo with the care he needs. No contribution is too small, and your generosity will make a real difference in Milo's life.
Share: Spread the word! Share Milo's story on social media, with friends, and within your community. The more people who know about Milo, the more support we can gather.
Send Positive Vibes: Milo is not just a pet; he's a part of our shelter family. Your words of encouragement and positive vibes mean the world to us and him.

Treatment is underway for the 21 kittens who entered our care with ringworm infections!
Today, our Medical Coordinator, Kay, dipped every kitten in a lime-sulfur solution. While this yellow liquid smells awful, it's incredibly effective at disinfecting their coats of the ringworm fungus.
Watch as Kay carefully dips a kitten just below the chin, then rubs the solution over the top of their head, behind the ears and under the chin with a washcloth, being careful to avoid their eyes and nose. Kay completes this intricate task while dressed in full PPE gear: gown, gloves, hairnet, shoe covers and goggles.
It is a very time consuming process, but a necessary part of their recovery!

Don't Wait, Kittens are Here!
Weโve received SO MANY inquiries for kittensโand youโre in luck! Kittens are here at ACSKC. But like all great things, these kittens need a few more weeks before they can be spayed and neutered and ready for adoption.

This is a fantastic way to spend time with and get to know your fosters before deciding on a new pet. Kittens begin to display their unique personalities at a very early age, so youโll know whether theyโre playful, shy, cuddly, sweet, or all of the above!
We have 10 littersโover 35 kittensโwho would love to spend time with you. All of them are what we call โIn-Betweenโ kittens. Perfect for first-time fosters, In-Betweens are kittens who are healthy and well-socialized, but have not yet been spayed or neutered. They do not require daily medication or extra socialization. In-Betweens are already using the litter box and know how to eat on their own, too!
ACSKC provides our fosters with food, litter and a litter box! For more information, check out our FAQs here: acskc.org/programs/foster/become-a-foster
To begin fostering, please fill out our application on acskc.org/programs/foster/foster-application

A Warm & Wet Welcome to our Rescues!
A wet night awaited our latest group of rescue dogs when they arrived at ACSKC last night, but we did our best to warm them up and make them feel welcome in their new, temporary home.
Smalls, Tux, Saint, James, BeeBee & GiGi journeyed from Louisiana for a fresh start on the Eastern Shore.
A huge thank you to St. Tammany Parish Department of Animal Services for organizing the transport and their continued partnership!
These pups and more are available on our website at acskc.org!
Note: James the Yellow Lab was adopted earlier today!

Pet of the Week: Sir Boogies Alot
Weโre on the air! Every Friday morning, we join Moore and Les on The New 106.9 WCTR to introduce you to our Pet of the Week. Tune in to hear about a special pet who is ready for their forever home!
Now, weโre sharing the broadcast here, too! So whether you missed the live segment, or perhaps the pet you heard about might be the perfect match for a friend, you can now catch up and share our Pet of the Week on facebook!
Last week, we introduced Moore and Les to the charismatic and quirky Sir Boogies Alot. We also had exciting news to share about our Executive Director!
Sir Boogie has been adopted since the time of this recording, BUT there are many other friendly cats available for adoption on acskc.org!
ACSKC's Latest Rescue Transport is Here!
Theyโre here! These seven dogs just arrived from our partner shelter in Louisiana, St. Tammany Parish Department of Animal Services!
A huge thank you to their staff for organizing this transport, and our gratitude to Mardi Paws for raising the funds needed to make this rescue happen!
We're so happy to welcome Toodle, Marley, Maggie, Kenzie, Mojo, Rupert and Choppa to the Eastern Shore. Hereโs what we know about each of these pups so far:
๐ง๐ผ๐ผ๐ฑ๐น๐ฒ is a Border Collie-mix who was surrendered by his owner. At only 27.1 pounds, heโs on the smaller side, and around a year old. He seems like a very sweet boy who is dog friendly.
๐ ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐น๐ฒ๐ and ๐ ๐ฎ๐ด๐ด๐ถ๐ฒ came from the same home, but may not be from the same litter. They can be shy at first, so continued socialization is an absolute must for these girls. They are both 8 months old. Marley is 22.1 pounds. Maggie is 20.9 pounds.
๐๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ถ๐ฒ was adopted out by the Louisiana shelter a few years ago as a puppy, but sadly her owner has died, and she ended up back with them, confused, worried and totally overlooked. She is a 5-year-old lab-mix, weighing 64 pounds. She is very calm and has a sweet temperament.
๐ ๐ผ๐ท๐ผ was a St.Tammany staff favorite! Heโs just a happy, handsome lab-mix. Mojo was kenneled with another dog in their shelter and did very well with her. When he was cat tested, he was more scared of the cat than anything. He may be able to live with cats with proper introductions!
๐ฅ๐๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ came to the Louisiana shelter as a stray, so not much is known about him. They estimate he is a year old, and weighs 52 pounds. He is presumed to be an Australian Shepherd-mix. He is dog friendly!
๐๐ต๐ผ๐ฝ๐ฝ๐ฎ was brought to the Louisiana shelter as a stray, but after some digging an owner was found. Refusing to come by the shelter to sign the simple "owner surrender" paperwork, this big goofball had to sit in the high-intake
Home Needed for Zoey
โDespite the circumstances she came from, Zoey is the happiest pup!
Zoey grew up in a rough situation where she was mostly kept inside with 5 other dogs. Her owner was very sick before he passed, and had never been able to walk her or properly care for her. She does, however, know how to use a dog door and is exceptional about going potty outside.
She is highly resilient and loving. With a daily outlet for her energy (a nice brisk walk) and lots of attention, she is really flourishing. She is around 6 years old and weighs 82lbs (slightly overweight from free feeding, but currently on a regimented diet). Zoey is spayed and vaccinated.
As you can see from her cute little neck mohawk, she is at least part ridgeback. She is fine with other dogs, but can be a little high strung, so she may be happiest as an only dog or with one other confident, calm dog. I havenโt seen her around cats. She is fine around kids, but can be a little rough when giving affection (scratching for attention or nipping your nose when kissing your face).
She loves to play ball, go on walks, and get good back scratches. Consider giving Zoey her forever home!โ
All observations on Zoeyโs personality and behavior were provided by her current caregiver. Please send questions or inquiries to [email protected]
