Black Dog Animal Rescue Our Mission: To promote, provide, and advocate for the needs of companion animals.

What sets BDAR apart is our unique vision for Wyoming:

We’re the only rescue dedicated exclusively to helping Wyoming’s homeless pets and Wyoming’s pet owners. PACK Program: A partnership with the Wyoming Medium Correctional Institution that pairs shelter dogs with inmate handlers for 9 weeks. This program teaches dogs basic obedience and provides both the dog and the inmate with the opportunity

for shared redemption and rehabilitation. Foster care: A program designed to increase the capacity of the adoption program by placing animals in temporary care in the homes of willing volunteers. High-volume adoptions: A program designed to place as many homeless pets in dedicated permanent homes as quickly as possible, thereby freeing up physical, financial, and human resources necessary to care for new incoming animals, or those requiring more extensive therapies prior to adoption. Low-cost microchips: Affording people the ability to have their pet permanently identified in the event they become missing and need to be reunited with their owner. Pet food pantry: Assisting members of the community with free dog and cat food and other supplies during times of financial hardship. Positive Alternatives to Shelter Surrender (PASS) program: Re-homing assistance for dogs who need not ever enter a shelter.

Sweet little Scarlett, a two year old terrier mix, was scheduled to be spayed this morning. But, once at the vet, we found out she had a surprise for us...puppies! In just a few short weeks, Scarlett will be a momma. While it's not what we ever hope for, we just have to roll with it and to be honest, we're a tiny bit excited. Scarlett is a precious girl and we know her puppies will be just as wonderful. Shout out to her foster mom who is up for an adventure and has agreed to continue fostering her and her soon-to-be babies. Stay tuned...

If you'd like to contribute to this suprise expense or purchase some puppy supplies off our wish list, visit the link in comments.

Blair is a stunning cat! She has this gorgeous coat that is the softest to pet!

Blaire is playful! She loves to bat around a wand toy or chase after fuzzy balls. She loves to visit wth the other cats in kitty city but isn't always respectful of boundaries. If another cat tells her to back off she listens, but a passive cat will let her walk all over them despite being uncomfortable.

Blaire is a little afraid of loud noises or sudden movements. She is adventurous and loves to explore outside her condo, but if broom falls or a person yells she will run back to her home and hide.

Blaire has been passed over for adoptions a few times, and this girl is so deserving of her forever home. Take the time to apply to meet her in the comments.

Chloe's graduating from PACK! She is a sweetheart who came to us with her litter of pups after they were found in Texas. She would love a home where she can play with other dogs and be spoiled by her humans.

She is a bit of a herding dog and will herd other dogs in playtime. PACK has been working with her and reminding her to be gentle, she will need that continued reminder to be successful in a home. Chloe is going to do best in a home with no cats. She finds them a bit too intriguing, and wants to chase them. She is eager to learn and is very treat motivated. This has made training her fairly easy up at PACK.

Chloe is available for adoption. You can learn more about her in the comments!

Meatball is a sweet boy, he was a little more timid when he came in, but he loves to spend time with other cats. Despite his puffy cheeks and much bigger body, this boy is a sweetie and way more laid back than our other cats. He would love to find a home with other cats, but no dogs. He doesn't like dogs.

*** AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION, FOSTER, or FOSTER TO ADOPT ***

Meet Floyd! He is currently in our P.A.C.K. Program, a 9-week intensive program for routine obedience, agility, and handling training with a prison inmate trainer and he is almost ready to show off his new skills! His new abilities include 'sit', 'wave', 'shake' and more! New adopters should realize that PACK Program graduates will require regular, ongoing reinforcement of learned behaviors in order for them to become permanent. Floyd will graduate this week so he will be available to adopt!

Floyd is a rough and tumble kind of dog, but so far at PACK he hasn't found a dog that wasn't his friend. He may need gentle reminders to not jump on the other dogs and to not play so rough. Dogs his size are going to be the best playmate. He's also a leaner and leans into you for affection. He really wants attention and cuddles from his people.

Floyd has a personality that can make anyone's day. Some of his favorite things include freeze dried liver treats and a nice bone to chew on when you're relaxing at home. Learn more about him in the comments!

Tired of the usual dating scene? Keep striking out at the bars and online? Maybe it's time to give fostering a try!

Allison and Ryan met in 2019 when he adopted one of her foster dogs and five years later they were married! Allison said, " We were married in The Snowies in September and both Kita & Frida were part of that wonderful day and it never would have happened without BDAR."

We all know fostering saves lives but it might even result in a human love connection, too! Learn how you can give it a try at the link the comments.

Congratulations, Allison and Ryan! We are so honored to have played a little part in your story.

Happy Holidays from everyone at BDAR. We are closed for the rest of the week. We will reopen on Monday, Dec 30th for regular business hours. We wish you a merry and bright holiday!

This is the Christmas card we sent out this year, so a special "Happy Holidays!" from the BDAR Bunch!

12/24/2024

Happy Christmas Eve!

Before we head out to spend the next few days with our families, we want to take the time to thank you for a wonderful year; because of you and your unwavering commitment to us, our programs have touched nearly 2,000 lives in our community this year. Our quarterly vaccine clinics, pet food pantry, dog training classes, PACK Program, rehoming assistance and adoption programs ease minds, build bonds, keep families together, give purpose, and help keep pets healthy. They also remind us that we are not only a valuable resource for cats and dogs but also for the people who cherish them. It is a great pleasure to be able to do this work and none of it would be possible without you!

There is still time to make your end of year gift and we promise to do even more great things with it in 2025. You can do that at the link in the comments.

With so much gratitude in our hearts, we wish you and your loved ones, furry and non, a warm, joyous holiday!
