Today, we had the pleasure of treating Mika, a sweet kitty who came to us for an abscess treatment. But what really caught our attention was her family’s creative solution to keep her from licking her wound before her visit—they made their very own e-collar out of a Styrofoam bowl! ✨

We absolutely love their ingenuity and dedication to Mika’s care. It’s a great reminder of how much love and effort our pet parents put into keeping their furry friends safe and healthy. 💕

Fireworks can be stressful for pets, so here are some evidence-based tips to help them stay calm during the celebrations:

🏠 Create a safe space: Set up a cozy, quiet area, in an interior room, away from windows, where your pet feels secure.
🎶 Use white noise: A fan, calming music, or the TV can help mask the loud booms.
🧥 Try anxiety wraps: Gentle pressure wraps like ThunderShirts can comfort anxious pets.
💊 Prepare medications: A well-timed dose of prescribed medication can make all the difference.

We wish you and your pets a safe and peaceful Fourth of July! 🎆🐾

Dear Valued Clients and Cheyenne Community,

We want to take a moment to update you about changes to our After-Hours Emergency Services. Due to the departure of one of our on-call veterinarians, we now have only two doctors available for after-hours emergencies. While we are actively searching for a new veterinarian to join our team, we have made adjustments to ensure our remaining doctors can maintain their well-being, including adequate sleep and a healthy work-life balance.

Updated Emergency Service Hours:
• 7am to 11pm
During these hours, we will continue to provide emergency services to all pets in the Cheyenne community experiencing life-threatening medical emergencies, regardless of whether they are established patients or not.

• 11pm to 7am
Between these hours, we will only be able to assist our established patients experiencing life-threatening medical emergencies. An established patient is defined as a pet that has been seen by one of our doctors at BEVC within the last two years.

For non-client emergencies during these hours, we recommend contacting Four Seasons Veterinary Specialists in Loveland, CO. They can be reached at (970) 800-1106, and their address is 4120 Clydesdale Pkwy, Loveland, CO 80538.

We deeply understand the importance of accessible emergency care and assure you that this decision was not made lightly. Our goal is to provide the highest quality care while also protecting the health and endurance of our team. We’re optimistic that these changes are only temporary, as we are actively seeking a new veterinarian to join our team in order to fully resume our previous emergency service model.

Thank you for your understanding and continued trust during this time of transition. We appreciate your patience as we work diligently to meet the needs of our patients and community.

Sincerely,

The BEVC Team

Rabies is a deadly virus that poses a danger to both pets and humans. The good news? It’s 100% preventable with vaccination!

Every year, thousands of animals and hundreds of people around the world are exposed to rabies. It’s transmitted through the bite of an infected animal, and once symptoms appear, it’s almost always fatal. 😔

By vaccinating your dog or cat against rabies, you’re not only shielding them from this devastating disease but also protecting your family and community.

✅ Required by law in most places (Including Cheyenne, WY)
✅ Key to keeping wildlife and pets safe
✅ A crucial step in preventing human exposure

Remember, rabies vaccinations aren’t just important; they’re a lifesaver. 🩺❤️ Talk to your veterinarian today about keeping your pet up to date!

FVRCP: The Essential Shield for Your Cat 🐾💉

Did you know the FVRCP vaccine is one of the most important steps you can take to protect your cat’s health? This vaccination covers multiple serious diseases, keeping your feline friend safe and thriving.

🐱 What does FVRCP stand for?

Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis (FVR)
Calicivirus (C)
Panleukopenia (P)
Here’s why it’s a MUST for your cat’s health:

😿 Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis causes severe respiratory infections and can lead to long-term complications.
😿 Calicivirus leads to painful ulcers, respiratory issues, and even lameness.
😿 Panleukopenia (also called feline distemper) is a highly contagious and often fatal disease that affects the immune system.

The FVRCP vaccine creates a powerful shield against these threats, especially for kittens and cats who go outdoors. Regular boosters are key to ensuring protection that lasts.

Make sure your cat is covered with this lifesaving vaccine! 🩺 Your vet can help you keep their vaccination schedule on track. 🐾❤️

Leptospirosis Vaccine: Protect Your Dog, Protect Your Family 🐾💉

Leptospirosis might be hard to say, but it’s even harder on your dog’s health! This bacterial infection can cause serious damage to your dog’s liver and kidneys—and it’s zoonotic, meaning humans can catch it too.

Here’s why vaccinating your dog is so important:

🐾 What is Leptospirosis?
It’s a bacterial infection spread through contaminated water, soil, or contact with infected animals’ urine. Dogs who love to explore outdoors are especially at risk, but it can even exist in your own back yard!

🐾 Why is it dangerous?
Lepto can lead to kidney or liver failure and can even be fatal without treatment. Plus, it poses a risk to you and your family’s health!

The Leptospirosis vaccine creates a crucial barrier of protection for your four-legged best friend and keeps your household safe too.

Talk to your vet about this essential vaccine today and enjoy your adventures worry-free. 🐕❤️

Do you know what the DHPP vaccine does for your dog? It’s like a superhero cape for their immune system, protecting them from multiple dangerous diseases in one shot!

🐾 What does DHPP stand for?

Distemper
Hepatitis
Parvovirus
Parainfluenza
These diseases are not only extremely contagious, and very difficult (not to mention, EXPENSIVE) to treat, they are potentially fatal. Here’s why DHPP is a must-have for your furry friend:

💉 Distemper can cause respiratory, neurological, and gastrointestinal damage.
💉 Hepatitis (CAV-1) can cause liver damage and lead to organ failure
💉 Parvovirus is especially dangerous for puppies, causing severe GI symptoms including vomiting and diarrhea. It is extremely contagious and can live in the environment for long periods of time.
💉 Parainfluenza spreads quickly and causes severe respiratory issues.

The DHPP vaccine offers powerful protection so your dog can live their happiest, healthiest life. 🩺❤️

The Broadmoor East Story

Michael P. Driscoll grew up in Alabama and decided at a very young age that he wanted to be a veterinarian just like his uncle. He made that dream a reality at Auburn University, where he graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine in 1980. After completing his education, he moved to Cheyenne in 1980 and practiced veterinary medicine for 9 years before opening his own clinic, Broadmoor East Veterinary Clinic, in June 1989. Our practice has seen a lot of changes in the last 30 years, and our facility has expanded along with our staff, but our commitment to compassionate, comprehensive veterinary care has never wavered.
