Did you know that dogs have a version of an ACL and can tear/rupture them, just like humans? There are usually two routes of management that we follow: either rehabilitation or orthopedic surgery depending on the severity of the injury. One surgical correction that some orthopedic surgeons use is called a TPLO procedure. Injured CCLs are extremely common in patients, especially large breed dogs such as golden retrievers and labrador retrievers.

Tibial plateau leveling osteotomy surgery, or TPLO surgery for dogs, is done to repair a ligament in your dog's stifle joint and helps prevent future injury.
