💘 Looking for a fun way to celebrate this holiday of love? Consider taking one of our shelter canines on a date!

This Valentine’s Day weekend (2/14-2/16), take an adoptable pup from the Cheyenne Animal Shelter on a Doggy Day Out or In! Whether it’s a cozy movie marathon on the couch, a coffee run, or a scenic stroll, you’ll make their day—and who knows, they might just steal your heart.

Each of these cuties will go out on their date with a special Valentine's Day goody bag from our friends at Chewy. It’s fun, free, and a wonderful way to give our shelter dogs a much-needed break while they wait for their forever homes.

If you're interested in being one of these sweet pup's valentines, head to the Cheyenne Animal Shelter and let our front desk team know!

Update: Chloe and Katya, 2 out of the 3 pregnant cats who joined us just two weeks ago, have both given birth to healthy litters of kittens! Huge shoutout to our dedicated fosters who gave these mamas comfortable spaces to have their babies and are now helping these tiny felines grow and get ready to find loving furever homes!

❤🐾 We're participating! This weekend (2/14-2/16), our shelter pups will be looking for some pawsome dates to give them a day full of love while they await their furever homes. Thanks to our friends at Chewy, each eligible pup will head to their Doggy Day Out/In with a special bag of goodies. Stay tuned for when we show off all our bachelors and bachelorettes who will be ready to steal your heart!

Every year, we host our Fur Ball gala to raise critical funds for our clinical services. But what exactly are the Cheyenne Animal Shelter's clinical services?

Led by Medical Director, Dr. Tessha Winsch, and her incredible team of vet techs and volunteers, the clinical services cover:
🐾 Spay/neuter surgeries for shelter pets, community pets, community cats, and partner organizations.
🐾 Administering of vaccinations, medications, and microchips.
🐾 End-of-life care and humane euthanasia.
🐾 Emergency surgery/care and diagnostic testing.
🐾 Post-adoption pet care and support.
🐾 Pet medical record keeping.
and a whole lot more!

These services are essential to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal that comes through our doors. By attending the 2025 Fur Ball, you can help sustain and expand these critical services, ensuring that animals in need continue to receive the care they deserve.

Tonight, the biggest rivalry isn’t just on the field—it’s in our cat adoption room!
🐾 Finnegan is all about The Kansas City Chiefs and their three-peat, ready to pounce on every play and bat down the competition.
🐾 Waffleton is proudly repping the Philadelphia Eagles, claiming victory is inevitable—just like his ability to steal your seat the second you stand up.

Both of these spirited feline fans are looking for their forever home (preferably with a couch big enough for game-day snuggles). But first, they need to know… Who do you think is taking home the Lombardi Trophy? 🏆 Drop your Super Bowl prediction in the comments below! Will it be the Chiefs or the Eagles? Or are you just here for the snacks?

In the last week, we've welcomed three pregnant cats into our care—Chloe, Trixie, and Katya—who braved the cold with their growing bellies, searching for food and warmth. Now, they’re safe in the loving arms of our fosters, receiving the care they need to bring their kittens into the world.

But their stories are part of a bigger picture. Kitten season isn’t just a springtime event... it’s a year-round reality. That’s where our Community Cat Programs come in—humanely spaying, neutering, and vaccinating outdoor cats to curb overpopulation and ensure these felines have a chance at a healthy, stable future.

Kitten season never truly ends, but with your support, we can ensure every feline and every kitten receives the care and love they deserve. Stay updated on shelter stories like these and be part of this life-changing work by signing up for our e-newsletter in the comments below!

If you cannot find a pet who tugs at your heartstrings at the Cheyenne Animal Shelter (although, we think you will!), please do your homework. Look for reputable breeders who will allow you to visit their home, meet the mother, and see where all the dogs live. If the dogs are living in wire cages in the backyard, walk away.

Here are some other considerations:
🐾 Look at all the dogs, are they bright and happy?
🐾 Will they let you see all the dogs on the property
🐾 Is the housing clean?
🐾 Do the dogs approach the caretaker and seek his/her attention?
🐾 Will they share veterinary paperwork?

If the answer to any of these questions is no, you should not purchase a puppy. By supporting their business, you are creating the possibility that the mother will be bred again.

🐶 Our first-ever Doggy Day In was a success! Ernie had a fantastic time spending the day out of his kennel while visiting with CAS volunteer, Kaitlyn. He quickly made himself at home with a good 'ole nap on the couch and was more than happy to hang out in the kitchen while Kaitlyn worked on making dinner.

This handsome ball of fluff is such a wonderful pup and would make a great cuddle companion for a lucky family out there. Ernie cannot wait to hop into a loving home, so if you're interested in making his dreams come true, stop by the Cheyenne Animal Shelter tomorrow at noon!
