Picasso put on his best outfit to get your attention….did it work?!

This honey boy came to us as a stray. We think the name speaks for itself, that crooked face is everythinggggggg! He got X-rays done during his neuter and there is no real explanation for his face other than a possible attack when he was a puppy that healed wonky. We think it adds to his incredibly cute personality and the best news is that it doesn’t disturb him in anyway! If you love this face as much as we do, you’re in luck because he’s looking for his forever! Come check him out! ❤️❤️❤️

Let's talk about retractable leashes for a moment. They have become very popular over the years, but not because they are safe. To be honest, they are one of the most dangerous pet items you may own. Because we are all about keeping pets safe and healthy, we wanted to share some of the biggest concerns about retractable leashes...
- These leashes allow dogs up to 26' distance to walk ahead of you. If an off-leash dog is around the corner, there is little you can do to get control of your pet quickly enough to avoid an issue. And the further your dog is away from you, the less control you have.
- The safety of your pet is put on a very thin cord. These cords can snap or be chewed, resulting in your pet running off.
- Speaking of safety, that thin cord can also become wound around your fingers, hands, legs, etc. Most of these "leashes" come with an amputation warning on the package or handle. There's a reason they need to warn you; it's sadly happened many times.
- Getting rewarded for pulling by getting more leash distance is not a great way to train your dog. Most dog trainers encourage walking your dog close to you on a loose leash. Retractable leashes always have tension on them, and your dog will learn to pull against that tension.

So those are just a few reasons to ditch the retractable leash and get yourself a 6' nylon leash for your dog. When you come to visit us, we ask that you bring your dog in on a regular nylon leash for their safety, and yours.

Hi Mom,
Hi Dad,
Now that I’ve been across The Rainbow Bridge for a couple weeks, they said I should write a letter home.
Sorry, Mom but I’m so busy ‘across the bridge’ that I haven’t thought of home much. They said it’s okay and that you would understand. I hope you do. (I think you will.)
Remember that night when I wasn’t feeling very well and we were all crying?
I don’t remember much, but I do remember seeing and hearing all of you and feeling your touches and hugs…I remember hearing “we love you” and that one last command of “Go through”.
I didn’t know what you meant, so I turned around and walked through the fog that was in front of me.
I saw the biggest bridge I’ve ever seen! And so many friends on the other side of it!
They were all playing with toys and balls!
You were right to tell me to go there!
My feet kept moving forward, but my heart kept pulling me back.
Your touches became lighter and lighter and I wanted to come back and nudge your hands for more love, but I was overcome by this feeling of curiosity for the happy place over the bridge!
My feet started moving on their own, like a gentle breeze was moving them forward for me!
I can’t explain it, but I had no doubt that it was the right thing to do!
So, I walked across that big, huge bridge by myself!
I looked for you, because you’re always by my side, walking with me, but this was different.
I didn’t have a collar around my neck or a leash connecting me to you ~ I was ‘free’!
Even though you weren’t there with me, I never felt alone!
I actually felt like I had a huge cape of love wrapped around my body and the more I walked, the easier it was to breathe!
So, I kept walking!
And I would feel more warmth in the big hug, so I kept on walking!
I eventually made it over the big bridge – I did it by myself, mom. When I got here, all of my new friends greeted me and helped me walk off the bridge ~ it was so cool!
They gave me a pair of wings and said that I was now a Guardian Angel!
What I’ve learned over these past few weeks has been amazing and nothing like I’ve seen before!
We’re all the same up here ~ we all have wings and we all have Forever People to watch over ~ that’s YOU, mom !
You’re my Forever Person and I’m your Forever Dog!
We had such a great life together and I do miss you a LOT, but please know that I am so happy in my new home across The Bridge!
I’ll send you another Earth Angel so you won’t be alone.
Give them your whole heart, like you gave it to me.
I’ll check in every so often to make sure they treasure your love ~ I always did!
When you miss me, think of a rainbow and know I’m on the other side of it, waiting to walk with you again.
I’ll always be in your heart.
I love you, mom!
Time for me to go play.”

Sigh. Butter Bean. When we first saw him in the shelter, we knew we HAD to have him. Not only is he amazingly, adorably, wonderfully sweet, he has.......wait for it.......2 feet on 1 leg! Yup, you read that right! He is so unique and that just makes him even more special than his personality already does. It does not seem to cause him any pain and he gets along perfectly on it. He has learned to walk beautifully on leash, gets along great with other dogs, and just radiates perfection. He is so kind and gentle, we just cannot get enough of him. He is very happy and is playing well with his pals at the center.

They tell you not to cry.

They tell you that it's just a dog, not a human being.

They tell you that the pain will be over.

They tell you that the animals don't know that they have to die.

They tell you that it's important not to let him suffer.

They tell you that you can have another one.

They tell you it's going to happen to you.

They tell you that there is more pain.

But they don't know how many times you've looked into your dog’s eyes.

They don't know how many times you and your dog have looked into darkness alone.

They don't know how many times your dog was the only one who was by your side.

They don't know how much fear you have
at night when you wake up with your grief.

They don't know how many times your dog slept near you.

They don't know how much you've changed since the dog has become a part of your life.

They don't know how many times you hugged him when he was sick.

They don't know how many times you've acted like you didn't see his hair getting whiter.

They don't know how many times you've talked to your dog, the only one who really hears.

They don't know that it was just your dog who knew you were in pain.

They don't know what it feels like to see your old dog trying to get up to say hello.

They don't know that if things went wrong, the only one who didn't go is your dog.

They don't know that your dog trusts you every moment of his life, even in the last.

They don't know how much your dog loved you and how it is enough for him to be happy, because you loved him.

They don't know that crying for a dog is one of the most noble, significant, true, purest and warmest things you can do.

They don't know when the last time you moved him with trouble... making sure it didn’t hurt him.

They don't know what it felt like to pet their face in the last moments of their life....

In Memory of all those who went over the rainbow bridge. You all have a place forever in our hearts 💕
