Hi, my name is Zyara, "Z" for short. I get along great with my foster brother. We wrestle, chew toys together and guess what? He doesn't mind if I bop him in the face with my tail. That's right, I have a tail and foster parents says it's the cutest! I've only had 1 accident since I've been here and that was week 2. No accidents since but I am one of those girls who want my foster parents to go outside with me when I do my business. I do a great job chasing the bunnies out of the yard. I'm a cuddler and want to be where you are at all times. I love sitting on my foster Dad's lap but if foster mom moves, I'm following her.

Zyara will soon be available for adoption. She will be on our Petfinder site very soon. If you have any questions about Zyara or any of our other current fosters you can send us a message through messenger and we will answer as soon as we can. If you think y ou are the right fit for a bulldog. Please visit our website https://www.ilenglishbulldogrescue.org/ and read our adoption guidelines. Complete an application

🌈 In Loving Memory of Braxton 🐾

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of one of IEBR’s beloved club members, Braxton.

Braxton rejoined rescue 1.5 years ago after both of his adoptive parents passed away. Despite such deep loss, he found comfort, love, and a true sense of family again—thanks to his incredible foster family who welcomed him with open arms and an open heart.

Foster Mom writes:

> ā€œIt is with profound sadness that I let you all know that Braxton passed away last night. He was having some respiratory distress after dinner and passed in my arms on the way to the ER. He is now with his family and fur siblings. He had a good 14+ years, and I have greatly enjoyed being able to care for him the last 1.5 years. Rest easy, my old man. We all visited Florida a few weeks ago and got to chase lizards and see the beach.ā€

We are deeply grateful to his foster mom and family for loving Braxton unconditionally and making his final chapter full of joy, comfort, and adventure. He was more than just a foster—he was family.

Run free, sweet Braxton. You were so very loved. šŸ’”

🌽 Summer BBQs + Dogs = Fun… But BEWARE of Corn Cobs! 🌽

Corn on the cob is a summertime favorite—but it’s also a serious danger for our furry friends.

While the corn itself isn’t toxic, the cob can cause:
🌽 Intestinal blockages (which often require surgery)
🌽 Choking hazards
🌽 Painful and expensive emergencies

Even small pieces can get stuck in your dog’s digestive tract—especially in breeds like bulldogs who tend to gulp before they chew.

šŸ‘‰ Keep corn cobs out of reach
šŸ‘‰ Educate your guests if you’re hosting a BBQ
šŸ‘‰ Dispose of scraps securely

If your dog swipes a cob or starts showing signs of vomiting, lethargy, or abdominal discomfort, call your vet immediately.

Let’s keep those tails wagging safely this summer!

Ace is only 1 year old and a strong, playful, beefcake pup but he will settle on the couch next to you and snuggle in. He loves to be petted and rubbed. Because of the scar tissue above his elbow, I gently massage that area which does not seem to bother him. He does pull on a leash especially when you first go out. He does redirect easily but requires frequent reminders, he still has puppy brain and some bully stubbornness. We are working on manners, when the weather is decent, we walk and he loves his walks. We sniff everything! He’s a great copilot and loves car rides. Ace is very treat and food motivated but has no food aggression at all. He loves big bones and he cannot lie. He does try to destroy the stuffed dog bed but again ā€œleave itā€ redirects him, so he doesn’t get stuffed toys. I’m not sure how he will be in close proximity to other dogs. Outside, especially at night, when he hears a dog bark, he goes on alert and tenses up. His sutures from the hernia repair haven’t completely dissolved yet but, it is all healed over. He doesn’t like the dremel on his nails. He does mouth and we are working on that, it seems to be more of a puppy play habit. He’s great in the shower or tub. Because of his injuries to that right front leg and the substantial scar tissue as well as the old, fused elbow, he will need to maintain his weight around what he is now, around 48 pounds. He whines to let you know he needs to go out and would probably do well with those doorknob bells. He would be great with an active family with older children.

If you are interested in Ace please visit our website: www.ilenglishbulldogrescue.org, and read through our adoption criteria to see if you meet our requirements. If you do, please fill out an application to adopt.

Bulldog B***y Wiggles are the best!
There’s nothing quite like the sight of an English Bulldog waddling your way—those short legs, chunky rolls, and that signature side-to-side strut.

And when they’re excited? Their whole back end wiggles like it's dancing! It’s pure, unfiltered joy... and totally impossible not to smile at.

If you’ve ever seen a bulldog do the ā€œhappy wiggle,ā€ you know:
It’s not just a walk—it’s a vibe.

Gracie came by for a visit to meet Billy and Larry—the two resident bulldogs. While Billy and Gracie hit it off with tail wags and sniffs, Larry made it clear he wasn’t impressed.

And you know what? That’s totally normal.

Introducing a new dog into your home isn’t always smooth sailing. Some pups welcome new friends instantly, while others need time, space, and a slower approach to feel safe.

Here are a few tips we follow during introductions:
āœ… Start on neutral ground if possible
āœ… Keep first meetings short and positive
āœ… Don’t force interaction—watch their body language
āœ… Give each dog their own space to decompress
āœ… Be patient. Some relationships take time—or may not develop at all

Billy and Larry remind us that, like people, dogs have different personalities—and we need to respect their boundaries as much as we celebrate their progress.

Have you had a tricky introduction between dogs? Share your tips or stories below!

🚨 Know the Signs: Heat Stroke in Dogs 🚨

As the temps rise, it’s critical to watch for signs of heat stroke—especially in our flat-faced friends like English Bulldogs who are at higher risk.

🐶 Warning signs include:
šŸ”„ Excessive panting
šŸ’¦ Drooling more than usual
😵 Lethargy or confusion
šŸ•ā€šŸ¦ŗ Trouble walking or collapse
šŸŒ”ļø Vomiting or diarrhea
šŸ’” Bright red or purple gums or tongue

If you notice these signs, act fast: 🧊 Move your dog to a cool place
šŸ’§ Offer small sips of water
šŸŒ¬ļø Use fans or cool (not cold) wet towels
šŸš‘ Call your vet or head to emergency care ASAP

NEVER leave your pup in a parked car or outside too long in the heat. A few minutes could be the difference between life and tragedy.
