Yesterday we welcomed 15 new faces through our open doors! In the wake of Hurricane Debby, BISSELL Pet Foundation stepped in to help transfer animals from shelters in coastal South Carolina affected by rising floodwaters. Many of these pets, who arrived to Anti-Cruelty yesterday, will be featured at this Saturday's fee-waived Clear the Shelters event. "Impacted pets in coastal South Carolina animal shelters were left with no place to go due to rising floodwaters following Tropical Storm Debby," said Cathy Bissell, Founder of BISSELL Pet Foundation. "We are grateful to Anti-Cruelty for opening their doors to help us save these pets who wouldn't have had a chance without us." Even lawyers make time for a puppy break! Members of the American Bar Association had a ball with our adoptable pups Valen and Veronica at the Hyatt last week! In between sessions at their Annual Meeting, guests took a break to snuggle the pair of puppies while learning about Anti-Cruelty's work throughout Chicago. Thank you for supporting our organization and adoptable animals - their puppy kisses were downright criminal!

Anti-Cruelty Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Darlene Duggan as the new President.

Darlene leads Anti-Cruelty with a strong emphasis on essential Open Door sheltering functions such as animal admissions, adoptions, and spay/neuter services. Her leadership, however, extends beyond these fundamental areas. She is dedicated to fostering innovation and adaptive thinking, ensuring the organization excels in traditional sheltering operations and services but also explores new and creative ways to improve animal welfare.

Last week, several shelter pups took a field trip to McCormick Place where they received lots of love and cuddles from attendees of the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO) Annual Meeting! Not only did they get a break from the shelter, but each dog got extra 1:1 time with folks from around the country. Thank you for having us, NACUBO - we had a howling good time!

Wendella got all dressed up (including packing her emotional support stuffy) and put her best paw forward yesterday at our PetSmart Adoption Pop-Up, but sadly had no takers. Wendella was found abandoned in a cage in a vacant backyard, but her poor treatment did nothing to ruin her sweet personality and demeanor.
