Bubblegum, bubblegum in a dish! 🍬 How many did you wish?

Princess Bubblegum, now known adorably as Mouse, found a lifetime of adventure and endless love since meeting her adopter at Tree House. 🐭

Tree House adoption counselor Jean, one of our amazing and thoughtful volunteers, understood the assignment when it came to finding Mouse the right person! 🙌 When you adopt from Tree House, the experience is truly tailor-made to what works for you. 🧵 And in Mouse’s case, we listened to what her adopter wanted and needed and worked our magic to make a perfect match align.

Mouse’s adopter couldn’t be more thrilled with their new best friend. 🥰 She describes Mouse as the most cuddly, loving, and sweetest cat around—and we can’t argue with that! These days, when Mouse isn't lounging in her luxurious cheese house, you can find her playing with a bundle of her favorite toys or snuggling up by her adopter's side in bed each night dreaming sweetly of their next day together. 🧀💤

There's no bond that'll warm your heart and soul faster than one you make with the right cat for you, and we're grateful to start a new year off with a post-adoption update that shows the impact of our volunteers and adopters to help all thrive. Congrats, Mouse! We're honored to be a part of our journey to living la dolce vita full time and wish you a lifetime of cuddles, catnip, and coziness with your purrson. 💖

Samson looks pretty charming and mysterious with his one cloudy eye. ☁️👁️ But once you meet him, you’ll find he’s no work, and all play! 🤪

Samson came to us from Winnebago County Animal Services with a positive feline leukemia (FeLV+) test and a scarred eye with diminished vision. We’re not sure what kind of previous injury caused the scarred eye, but we monitor it to make sure Samson’s not in any pain. (And he’s doing great!) 👍️

☕️ Samson is our café cat—so you can make an appointment just to hang out with him! And when you do get to meet him, be sure to find and toss around the spring toys, which are his favorite! And don’t forget to let everyone know that he’s ready for adoption. ✅️

Thinking about welcoming a new furry friend into your home? Our senior cats, aged nine and older, are available for just $75! 💰️ These gentle, loving companions are ready to curl up with you and bring joy to your life. Consider adopting one of these beloved Tree House residents today:

💧 Korra: This feisty girl would make you laugh every day with her funny antics. Take Korra home, and we promise she’ll bring spice into your life.

🧅 Scallion: Our team loves to sit on the floor, working off of their laptops, with Scallion around. All she wants to do is lay right next to you and give you a nuzzle.

❄️ Yuki: His name means “snow” or “happiness” in Japanese. Given the weather earlier this week, we think Yuki was meant to be adopted during snowy January into a warm and happy home.

🔥 Tiki: She’s a small kitty with a big heart! She’s very polite and will place her paw on your hand to let you know she would like some pets.

Despite his flame-colored fur, our Yuki is gentle and sweet. At nine years old, Yuki has been through a lot—especially with just one eye… 👁️

Yuki was transferred into our care from Crawford County Animal Control last August in need of urgent medical care. ⚕️ When he first arrived, he had yellow discharge coming from his right eye socket. It was hard to tell if he even had an eye under there. Our initial thoughts were that he might have been born with anophthalmia (no eye) or microphthalmia (a very small, underdeveloped eye). After a thorough evaluation, our team decided enucleation was the best treatment option for him. We cleaned the socket and closed it off to prevent future infection.

During his recovery, we also discovered that Yuki had pancreatitis, a stomach ulcer, and a bacterial skin infection. 😔 He’s doing better now, but he still has ongoing inflammation in his pancreas and stomach, so he eats a special prescription fiber diet every day to keep his tummy in check! 🧡

Simply put: Yuki is a sweet, older fella with some special needs. But with the right adopter, we know he’ll thrive. In return for your care, Yuki will give you all the gentle nuzzles and one-eyed slow blinks. 🥰

NICE CAT OF THE WEEK: T***s ✔️👍️

Look at T***s and her Feliway stuffy. 🧸 This shy baby takes a little while to open up to you, but once she does, it only gets sweet from there! You can give her gentle cheek pets, and she’ll begin purring like a motor.

NAUGHTY CAT OF THE WEEK: Cool Kid ❌️👎️

Guess who’s back from foster? Cool Kid—the naughty kid on the playground and ruler of our Cat Café—is back, and he’s so ready to play. ▶️

Scallion looks to be our grumpy scallywag! 🤨 But we promise it’s just her face. And it’s so stinking cute! 😍

Despite being an older gal at 10-years-old, Scallion LOVES to play with her cat dancer or any sort of wand toy. 🎣 She also loves any sort of hidey hut to watch the world from. We can tell you that if you buy a cute cat house, Scallion likely will use it! 🛖 (Unlike all those other kitties who never sleep in the beds their owners buy them!) You want to know some more thing? She’s a social eater: She likes to eat her daily meals when a human companion is by her side. 🍽️💚

This girl is 100% grumpy and 200% sweet. We can’t wait for you to come to our adoption floor and meet her. 🧡

We’re smitten to hear the Happy Ending Tail of Litten the kitten! 🐱

Stollen was adopted last July into a home with new siblings, human and feline! Her human sibling renamed her Litten, after their favorite feline Pokémon! 🕹️🎴 We think it’s perfect—Litten is a fire-type Pokémon with a blaze ability, and this Tree House kitty has orange, fire-colored fur! We wonder if this kitty will also evolve into a Torracat, just like in the game? 🔥

Litten’s family reports that “she sleeps on one family member or another’s pillow every night,” so we know she’s making the rounds to ensure everybody is safe! 🛏️ And based off of these photos, we can tell Litten loves to fall asleep to a bedtime story, too. 📖

Our lone bachelor and bachelorettes would make the best companions for that special human. Cassius has been here for about two years now, and Rey and Fink, nearing on one year. 📆 We hope you’re ready to meet some fellas who have been oh-so patient and know exactly what kind of Happy Ending they’d like.

🥳 Cassius’s ideal Happy Ending:
Ample playtime, a routine he can rely on, and plenty of cushy places to nap on once he’s tuckered out. And when he’s up, more playtime.

🙆 Rey’s ideal Happy Ending:
A gentle, loving home where she can go at her own place. A couch to lounge on and a good brush through her fur. Perhaps, a friendly, FeLV+ companion to help ease the recent loss of her bonded sister. Someone who understands, with their entire heart.

🧘 Fink’s ideal Happy Ending:
The size of the home doesn’t matter, as long as it’s got the comfiest, cushiest couch for Fink to sink in! And of course, a snuggle bug couch companion! Fink thinks that snoozing is an activity best shared.

Did we just describe your home? If yes, and you’re ready to open your heart to a Tree House cat, send us a message at [email protected]. And if not, share this post until it finds someone whose home is the right fit.

Last weekend, a Good Samaritan found and rescued a cat in need—an injured feline we’ve named Bongo. Poor Bongo had been living a tough life outdoors, likely fighting for territory with other cats who may have caused his injuries. 🤼‍♂️ He arrived at Tree House with deep wounds on both of his front legs, one of which had a severe 2-3” open gash. 🤕 The swelling was so intense that we initially feared his legs might have been broken. 🥴

Thankfully, an x-ray brought good news—no broken bones! 🦴✔️ Once we confirmed this, our team immediately got to work cleaning and treating his wounds. As we did, the intense scarring from healed wounds beneath his fur revealed a glimpse into the life of an outdoor tomcat.

Now, Bongo is on antibiotics to ensure his wounds heal infection-free. The next chapter of his story is one full of hope: Bongo’s recovery means he will soon find himself on our adoption floor! 🏁 Despite his outdoor origins, Bongo’s personality is anything but wild—he is sweet, curious, and incredibly friendly. We believe he’s ready to retire from street life and thrive in a loving indoor home where he’ll be pampered and adored. 🏡

Because Tree House is a managed intake shelter, we’re able to devote the time and resources to help severely injured cats like Bongo. 💗 This is only possible with the unwavering support of our amazing community. Together, we’re giving Bongo, and many other sick and injured cats in need, a bright and happy future. ☀️

Let’s hear it for the last adoption week of the year. Drumroll, please... 🥁 13 were adopted, including long-stay cat Fabio!

When we first met this handsome ginger, he was a 2-year-old who quickly found a home in 2018. 🍊 Fabio was returned to Tree House as a senior cat last January—one year ago—when his owner could no longer care for him in their advanced age. Over the past year, fell in love with Fabio as he transformed from an aloof cat, spending most of his time distancing himself from others on his cat tower, to a friendlier, chatty boy with a new zest for life.

Fabio has also been a good luck charm on the adoption floor: 🧿 Over 12 months, an astounding 21 of his colony mates have been adopted! As much as we loved the good vibes he brought to his feline friends, we were thrilled to see Fabio find his own adopter.

We wish Fabio and his new family all the best as they start this next chapter together! Congrats to all the kitties who made the last holiday-time adoptions count!

Alto and Khloe Coulee, two of our beloved FeLV+ cats, faced heartbreaking illnesses just before the holiday season. 💔 For 7-month-old Alto, an x-ray revealed cancer in his chest and belly, making every breath a struggle. Shortly after, Khloe was discovered to have a large tumor in her belly, causing her to rapidly lose weight. With heavy hearts, our team made the compassionate decision to humanely say goodbye to both, ensuring they would no longer suffer.

Alto’s legacy lives on through his brothers, Baritone, Tenor, and Bass. 👨‍👦‍👦Over the summer, this dynamic quartet, alongside their playmate Cool Kid, brought boundless joy to our Cat Café playroom, charming every visitor they met. 🎶 Baritone, in particular, shared a special bond with Alto. We’ll give him extra care and love as he adjusts to this sudden loss.

Khloe Coulee leaves behind her best friend and devoted companion, 7-year-old Rey. Once incredibly shy, Rey blossomed under Khloe’s gentle presence, learning to trust. 👯‍♀️ We are grateful to their foster parent, who gave them a warm and caring home these past several months. Just as Khloe once showed Rey that she wasn’t alone, Rey was there by her side, offering comfort as Khloe crossed the rainbow bridge. 🌈

Alto and Khloe Coulee may not have had long lives, but their time with us was filled with joy, companionship, and unconditional love. They will forever hold a cherished place in our hearts and in the hearts of all who adored them.

Rest peacefully, sweet Alto and Khloe. You were truly, deeply loved. 🤍🕊️

We always knew Jazara deserved to be spoiled by someone who absolutely adored her. And she’s getting exactly that in her Happy Ending Tail. 💅

Now named Kiki, this tabby girl was adopted in October by the perfect pawrent who just gets her! Together, they’re building up Kiki’s trust and having plenty of playtime with her favorite feather wand toy. We can tell she’s settled in with how silly she’s being in the last photo. 🤪

The best note we received from her adopter said, “Just wanted to let you know I’m taking good care of her and that she’s home now.” 🥺

Snoozing away on the silk-covered pillow he stole from his foster pawrent, Milo has claimed his regal resting spot, and he isn't one to be disturbed. Imagine a grumpy child disturbed from a sweet dream; that's Milo—he's made to recharge in peace.

However, once his catnap ends, Milo's true colors show. He transforms into an adorable bundle of affection, playful curiosity, and a little bit of cheeky nosiness. This fella wants to know what you’re doing at all times, and you’ll laugh when you see him plastered to the window, watching whatever the neighbors are doing like it’s a soap opera.

As a sleeping beauty and a fan of gossip, we couldn’t help but notice that Milo is like some of our human girlfriends. Rest assured, he’s all the better because he’s a cat. So, if you're considering trading your girlfriend for a FeLV+ feline companion (just kidding!), reach out to us at [email protected] and learn how you can offer Milo his Happy Ending.

Thirteen were adopted the week before Christmas! The best gift of them all? Our golden girl and foster kitty, Kiki, was adopted by her foster family when they realized that they could not part with her. They gifted 16-year-old Kiki to their teenage (human) daughter for her winter birthday. 🎁

Congratulations to the five adult kitties who turned a page to new chapters in their Happy Ending:
🎂 Kiki
🍄 Wayne Frisbee
🫡 Mr. Man
🧚‍♀️ Sugar Plum Fairy
🎙️ Sinatra

And congratulations to the eight kittens who also went home just in time to cause a ruckus under the Christmas tree!
🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Bowtie & Lapel—adopted by a member who fell in love the second they saw these two kittens in our Veterinary Wellness Center during their spay and neuter procedure. Yes, we also melt at the sight of kittens. And sometimes, we fold.
