Is your dog stressed during a visit to the groomer?
Why does it occur and how to avoid it?

It's not a secret that not all dogs like to be brushed, washed, trimmed & blow-dried... Such dogs need a special and personalized approach.

🐾 Not used to being groomed:
The causes of stress can be many things such as the dog not being used to being groomed. A puppy will be stressed during the first visit because everything is new and intimidating. Adult dogs that do not receive regular grooming can also be stressed. Regular, frequent visits help reduce stress level.

🐾 Past negative experiences:
An example of this can be a matted dog receiving a long grooming service that is also painful for them due to brushing the matting. This 'trauma' can make them more afraid and anxious. In such cases we recommend having your dog shaved the first time, then grow the hair to the desired length. If your pet is a breed that cannot be shaved, bring him to the groomer more often to get his matts out so that it does not become painful or stressful for him.

🐾 Pet Parents attitude and confidence:
When the parent is anxious, this is transmitted to the pet. It is not necessary to say goodbye to the pet for a long time with sorrow and tears in your eyes. Simply praise your pet before the grooming, and give him a treat after.

🐾 Groomer's experience:
Inexperienced groomers may not notice signs of dogs stress or hold their paws incorrectly during clipping the nails, causing discomfort to the dog. Dogs sense the insecurities of novice groomers and may not behave as well as they would with an experienced groomer. An experienced groomer can correct the emotional state of the dog, persuade the puppy to get a haircut, pay attention to painful areas (old injuries, sore joints), and make things more comfortable for the dog.

🐾 An anxious pet:
There are many pets that are anxious and feel stress not only during haircuts, but also in some everyday situations. Similar to us humans, they can experience social anxiety. CBD treats can help to cope with stress and can calming for them.
