Smokey was thrown from a car into an empty lot, a good Samaritan saw it happen and searched for several days to find him in the brush. He came into rescue when he was about 8 weeks old, full of fleas, emaciated and terribly, terribly frightened and anxious. He hissed his way through his first 4 weeks of life in foster care while his foster worked with him to get rid of his fleas, make him healthy again, and socialize him. Smokey bonded with another kitten in his foster home and that kitten helped socialize him while his fosters worked with him every day. At first he was slow to make progress with socialization but then things changed when he was about 5 months old, he started allowing pets and started rubbing up against our legs.

Smokey's face looks just like a panther, and his eyes are lustrous gold, his coat is so gorgeous it feels like rabbit fur and you can practically see your reflection in his fur. It is so shiny. He has a small white spot on his chest and if you are lucky he will show you his secret white spot on his belly. Smokey loves it when you throw a toy for him, he loves to play rough with his kitty cat friends, and will not leave the dog's tail alone! He is polite at mealtime and will let the other cats eat first. He has a tendency to bury his wet food with anything that is around including towels or undergarments, and plays with water. He is a very entertaining and energetic kitty and has taken to snuggling with us when we lay down to watch TV, and will climb on top of you once he learns you can be trusted, which won't take long if you use a Churu treat! He is always out and about in the house even when we have guests, he loves our other cats and our dogs, he also loves being a pet and getting treats! Smokey is very healthy and is neutered, vaccinated, chipped and FIV/FEL negative.
