We are grateful that the weather cooperated We successfully completed our first seat swap for the season at the farm 🙌🏾☀️⛅️ and we were able to leave before the storm arrived. 🌦️⛈️

Much gratitude for everyone that came early and helped set up the tents and table and did work around the farm and community garden. 🙏🏾💚

First volunteer day at the farm was spectacular!

So many old and new friends made it to the farm to reactivate it 🙌🏾🫶🏾🔨🪵🦾🪚

My goal was to just make sure our flock and kittens space was cleaned out but they went above and beyond! Even scheduled the next date 03/23/25 🙏🏾🙌🏾

I love when the little ones come and learn about the farm, touch the soil and go on a scavenger hunt for praying mantis eggs.

Much gratitude to all but specially to the event organizers .chicagochicana 🫶🏾💚💚💚💚

Queremos anunciar nuestro retiro como fundadores y organizadores en el Mercado.
Queremos agradecer a las Organizaciones, vendedores y visitantes que nos apoyaron mientras fuimos parte del Mercado a hacer de él todo un éxito.
Está no fue una decisión fácil ya que la fundación del Mercado siempre fue parte del la Visión de Cedillo’s Fresh Produce pero hay ciclos que cierran aunque nuestra misión de llevar nuestros productos y que sean accesibles para la comunidad continúa. Seguimos ofreciendo nuestras cajas semanales (CSA) a la comunidad sin cargo de entraga por contrato. Esperamos verlos en los otros mercado en los cual seguiremos participando en 2025.

After 6 wonderful years organizing Mercado de Colores We want to announce our withdrawal as founders and organizers. We want to thank all organizations, vendors and visitors that supported us while we were part of the market to be a successful one. This was not an easy decision on our end as the founding of the market had been part of Cedillo’s vision from day one. Although this cycle ends our mission to provide local and organicly grown vegetables to our community reminds the same and we will continue to have free delivery to csa members in the little Villages community. We hope you visit us in the other community markets we are still partaking this 2025.

Hi my name is Karla Cedillo,

You have seen me grow throughout the last 8 years in my family farm, or farmers markets.

I am now an 8th grader and my school participates in a student exchange program, and this school year I have the opportunity to go to South Korea in march. In order for me to partake in this one in a lifetime opportunity my grades and conduct need to be outstanding, and they have been for the last 8 years. Another requirement needed to go to Korea is to pay $2,000. I would appreciate if you could help me gather the funds needed to partake in this once in a lifetime opportunity to make amazing memories and experiences.

This is Patches, her previous owner reach out to us last summer after a dog attacked her flock of 5. Patches was badly hurt and wasn’t sure if she was going to make it. I told her then that as much I wanted to help her the summer are very busy for us and we couldn’t give her the special care she needed at that point. She took care of her and Twin until they recuperate and reached out to see if I would take them to ensure their safety. I left them on a smaller coop for two weeks and then started incorporating them to the flock slowly to make sure they didn’t get hurt since they had been through so much already. I named her patches because she lost one of her eyes from that attack but that didn’t change her happy personality. Patches and Twin are part of our flock of 10. 🐓🖤🖤🖤🖤

This is Pebbles, she is an older hen living her best life. She came last May with 3 other ladies and the coop where Onyx was staying. She loves to hang with French Toast waffles.

Farm Honey Mustard & Dill Chicken
Grilled Chicken Thighs with Farm Honey and Dill.

Vegetarian Caribbean Oil-Down. Grenada’s national dish. A hearty one pot dish made with starches like breadfruit, plantain, corn, okra, eggplant, & farm callaloo, and farm spices. The whole thing is stewed in coconut milk, curry, herbs to add even more flavor. In this case we will add tempeh (fermented soy used since 12th century).

“A Caribbean culinary experience”

Farm to Table Dinner Utilizing freshly picked produce from Cedillo’s & Cooked by the hands of the Urban Pilón Chef Roberto.

Para Picar:
Cedillo Spinach Spread + Homemade Dill Cheese + Homemade Cedillo Tomato Bread

Para Tomar:
Agua fresca de Viva la Horchata: Limonada de con Manzanilla y miel de Bee-utiful Honey

Para Empezar:
Calaloo & Wild Spinach in a home
made fish stock.

Para Empezar:
Ensalda a la Jardinera
(Cedillo Freshly Harvested Farm Salad)

Para Comer:
“Vaho nicaragüense” or baho (‘ba.o) a layered mix of yuca (cassava), sweet and green plantain, vegetables, spices, citric flavors, chicken thighs on the bone, and beef shank (all marinated for 2 days) slow cooked in banana leaves an estimated 8 hours. Served with my rendition of a spicy refreshing cabbage condiment made with vinegar and vegetables.
