Because wonderful dogs like Neymar exist & they need us to be their voices.
Neymar is the epitome of: “We don’t deserve dogs.”
He is a living, breathing, feeling example of: “Dogs are better than people.”
Neymar is a joyful companion when he has no reason to be joyful.
He is Heartworm Positive & cannot leave the shelter unless a foster steps up to save his life.
Neymar is at risk due to requiring medical treatment beyond what the shelter can provide.
He needs to start his heartworm treatment soon.
Neymar is a unicorn in that we believe he has the potential to be an amazing companion for respectful children. He has been to play group with other dogs & Neymar has the potential to be cat tolerant.
He is affectionate, playful, easy on leash & the perfect petite size for city living in a condo or apartment.
Neymar is young but not hyper. He can self entertain but is not at all possessive of his toys. Neymar trades easily. He is gentle taking treats.
Neymar DESERVES to live a long life as a valued family member. Heartworm is curable.
Please help us get Neymar SEEN so that we can be a little jealous of the family who ends up being lucky enough to save him & build a lifetime of memories with this happy boy!

So many Broken Pieces to Baylor’s journey so far…
…he deserves only Love & Sunshine.
⛅️ Baylor was with us in 2022. It was a miracle he made it out the first time & we were so thrilled when he was adopted by a repeat adopter. We really believed his long wait was worth it.
⛅️ Baylor got very sick during his first stay with us.He also was too stressed to be able to successfully interact with other dogs at the shelter. Then Baylor also got happy tail. He was a long stay dog & high risk due to various obstacles.
⛅️ Baylor was with his adopter for TWO YEARS & even proved to be accepting eventually of both male & female dog companions. He lived with other dogs.
☀️ Baylor has the potential to be both CAT AND DOG TOLERANT.
☀️ He has such an affectionate & endearing personality.
☀️ Baylor walks well on leash.
☀️ He is playful, but not hyper.
☀️ Baylor is treat motivated & even though he will playfully boss us for treats, he eventually tires of it & simply wants to relax by your side.
⛅️ The beginning of this reel is the day he came back to the shelter. Baylor is sitting in an office with both volunteers & staff who love him. He is clearly full of love for his caregivers but there’s also an obvious layer of confusion in his eyes. Baylor knows he shouldn’t be back at the shelter with his friends.
⛅️ Baylor CANNOT have overcome so many obstacles just to have his time end where he started. Baylor so very much deserves to spend the rest of his days in a home that will value him as a treasured family companion.
Please help us.
We are losing too many beautiful deserving dogs.

We’re thrilled that so many dogs found their forever homes this weekend! A huge thank you to everyone who chose CACC and came out to adopt – we are so grateful!
While we celebrate every adoption, there’s always a tinge of sadness as we look into the kennels of dogs who are still waiting. Sweet Zetta spent Saturday quietly wagging her tail as people walked by without stopping to meet her.
But we’re here to tell you – Zetta is a gem who should not be overlooked! We’ve noticed her, and we absolutely adore her.
While she didn’t get adopted on Saturday, Zetta enjoyed a special outing this morning with our Safe Humane Chicago crew, where she got to indulge in some hot dogs and cheese – and let’s just say, her fan club keeps growing! She came in as a confiscate with other dogs and we are completely smitten with all of them!
Please keep our overlooked dogs in mind, and thank you for always supporting CACC and our amazing Chicago dogs!

Edith had an amazing day out of the shelter with two of our great volunteers! Edith was originally brought to safety in a team effort by kind samaritans. She arrived at the shelter skinny, scared, and looking for reassurance after what seemed like a tough journey. Her desire for closeness with people speaks volumes about her past, and we understand the need for comfort.
The perfect home for Edith...one who will continue to build her confidence and shower her with love! Edith is darling!

How is Hamlet our #1 longest term adoptable dog in a building that shelters 230+ dogs?!
Hamlet is a play group Tester Dog. That means we trust him to interact appropriately with brand new untested Male & Female dogs on their first day.
He has a very good chance of being able to get along with most dog social resident dogs.
Hamlet is easy to walk on leash.
He is under 50 pounds. So easy city living size.
Hamlet has Head Tilts for days.
He is moderate energy, not wild.
Hamlet also loves all humans we have seen him meet.
This is absurd. Please Chicago, someone wonderful, open your home to this gem of a boy.
Oh, & he was also returned once simply because the person decided they weren’t ready for the responsibility of having a loving companion.
Returned dogs are at higher risk.
Hamlet is neutered & ready to leave the shelter to start his deserved happy Forever.
