Why does a Veterinary Behaviorist practice have Human Support Services? Because we recognize the caregiver burden that so many pet owners are under. Caregiver burden is the stress and emotions experienced by owners caring for pets with severe behavioral issues. Our Living with and Loving Pets with Behavioral Challenges group is for pet owners working through any and all issues- separation anxiety, resource guarding, fear of loud noises, stranger danger, just to name a few. No matter where you are in your journey, you are invited to share your story.

Our Behavioral Euthanasia support group is a small group of owners that have had to make the impossible decision to euthanize their pet due to their behavior issues.

1:1 Support Sessions are available for individuals or couples to share feelings and experiences. Sometimes people discuss how tough the journey is, sometimes people are weighing their options, and sometimes I support them along their grief journey.

We hope to see you soon- you are not alone and we can't wait for you to experience the amazing international community we have built. 💜

💜Juniper and her humans stayed dedicated to her care and they are now graduating! 🎓

Juniper went from a shy, scared girl who mostly stayed in her crate, to a couch loving sweetheart who, while still scared of some outside noises, is happy, loving and so comfortable in our home. We love her so much and are so happy to see her thriving!

"Dr. Ballantyne has been an incredible support for both me and my dog, Jin. When we first came to Insight, Jin was well behaved, but hyper-fixated and fearful, especially of noises around our apartment. Lots of anxious barking :) Dr. Ballantyne took the time to truly understand our situation and guided us with patience, compassion, and expertise. Every appointment was as valuable for me as it was for Jin!

Finding the right medication was a journey, but Dr. Ballantyne never gave up and eventually found a solution that worked for us. Now, during stressful moments Jin is able to disconnect from her triggers and engage with me and our training cues instead. To me it's clear she feels better understood, is less frustrated, and is more trusting in my ability to lead her during stressful moments. Challenges still come up, but they are less intense, more predictable, and we now have the tools to work through them together.

Graduating from her care is bittersweet. I have trusted her completely and will truly miss working with her. I cannot recommend Dr. Ballantyne and the Insight team enough!"

🎓 Hats off to Team Moss!! Moss is our most recent Insight graduate! Graduation can occur when treatment (medication, management & training) have stabilized, so behavioral care can be transferred to the primary care veterinarian.
