Welcome to CARF Saffron! When our rescue friend in Aruba frantically notified us about a 7 month old kitten back in august that was attacked by dogs and about to be euthanized we said YES, fly her over ✈️ to us! We will spare you the pictures of her upon arrival to the vet there but she was emaciated and after being attacked she began to miscarry her kittens (she’s a kitten herself 😔) right in the reception area. These injuries also left her partially paralyzed. Thank you Anja and Doggy Has Soul Sanctuary for saving her (this is a rescue that mainly focuses on the dogs over there but can we mention that hasn’t stopped them from paying for MANY spay/neuter surgeries for the kitties there!) and also to Monica, her foster mom in Aruba. After healing and putting on weight she was deemed safe to fly to Chicago and shortly after visited our friends at Bowes Animal Hospital for X-rays and her spay surgery where she did great. Today she had her neuro consult at MedVet Chicago and good news was received there. Because X-rays look good and Saffron is eating, using her litterbox all on her own and making vast improvements with her mobility they feel physical therapy is best at this point. She has zero signs of pain too which is great. While she may always be a bit “wobbly” she is a happy girl that loves people and should be able to live a fairly normal life. Meet Nuka!!! This young friendly gal has seen a thing or two. She was born in Kosovo where she sustained a head injury causing the loss of one eye. Due to this injury she now has a permanent (and adorable) head tilt. Thanks to some pretty amazing people she is now residing in the western burbs of Chicago. We would love to find this gal a home!!!
