It’s here at Green Paws, which means another collection of pictures of some of the cutest furbabies in the city showing everyone their tongues! 👅

Did you know that, similar to snakes, dogs and cats can ‘smell’ with their tongues? 🐍 Just like the scaly reptiles, dogs and cats use the Jacobson's organ, which is located within the roofs of their mouths. 😋 In ‘licking’ the air, these animals bring scents from around them to the organ, where it can interpret the smells into information. Just like we use our hands to explore our surroundings, pups and kitties use their tongues! 💚🐾

🚨New Client Alert🚨 One of our newest pups here at Green Paws 🎵 ain’t nothing but a hound dog. 🎶 Everyone give a warm welcome to Birdie! 💚

Just like other Basset Hounds, Birdie has a ‘slow and steady wins the race’ mentality, loving to take her time to get to know everything that’s changed since her last walk with long sniffs. 🐽 She loves people, jumping up on new friends to smell as much as she can. She also loves to put her detective skills to use and hunt through her puzzle toys to discover her food after a good walk. 🔎

Just like a little kid begging to stay outside even when they’re shivering, Zuli absolutely LOVES a good snow day! ❄☃ She can’t get enough of diving in and out of snow drifts. It might be just us, but we see a bit of a resemblance to a certain kind of porpoise… 🐬

If you have a pup like Zuli, make sure to keep an eye out for when they get too chilly while playing in the snow; some pups just don’t know when to stop having fun! 🥰

Happy from the bright shining smiles of all the furbabies here at Green Paws! 🦷

We think these furry friends’ sparkling smiles glow just as brightly as any holiday light and are twice as joyful. 💡 Make sure to take care of your furbabies' smiles by brushing their teeth when you can and giving them dental chews to get rid of any plaque that might hurt their teeth in the future! 💚🐾

This week’s comes from Milo, a sweet and friendly Toy Goldendoodle puppy. He wants to share a quote from model Coco Rocha; “Give the camera a performance.” 📸

If there’s one thing Milo knows, (besides trying to eat leaves, that is 🍂) it’s how best to pose for a camera to make everyone who sees the pictures fall in love! 🥰 He’s definitely a loverboy at heart, wanting to jump and greet everyone he meets with kisses and cuddles. 😘

He also loves the snow, enjoying hunkering down in snow drifts and chewing on any sticks he can find. He still can’t figure out where they go when he drops them in the snow, though! ❄

We think there’s a lot to learn from Milo, about how to be open to new experiences and always find your best angle. Have a great week, Green Paws Family! 💚🐾

Happy from the floofiest of the floofs in our Green Paws family! ☁

Not only is such fluffy fur stylish and adorable, it also has a very important role in a furbaby’s health! 💊 Not only does thick, fluffy fur protect animals against the elements, but it also helps some animals navigate the world around them.

While long hair can protect a pup or kitty, it can also lead to some complications. Long haired furbabies need more intensive grooming to keep the painful mats away, and long haired kitties are much more susceptible to hairballs, as shorter hair is easier for the cat’s stomach to digest! 🪮

🚨New Client Alert🚨 Does anyone else hear a string quartet? We definitely hear a cello! Our newest client is this sweet, timid pup named, you guessed it, Cello. 🎻

Cello is a Boxer, Shepherd, Husky mix who may be a little wary of strangers at first but warms up to new friends like hot chocolate on a cold day! 🥰 She loves to greet her Green Paws Pet Care Specialist with cuddles on the couch and maybe a head scritch or two. 🛋

Once outside, she loves to take long walks along the lake, watching the waves come into the shore. 🌊 Though she’s not a fan of the cold, she is a trooper with her little booties. And she is always ready to head back home and cuddle on the couch again. 😂

As winter starts to fully set in, everyone here at Green Paws want to give a few tips for walking pups in colder weather! ⛄❄️

1️⃣Make sure to dress your pup appropriately for the weather, especially for pups with thinner coats! A nice down puffer and some grippy booties go a long way to protect your furbaby from both the weather and the harsh salt on the ground! 👢
2️⃣Try to watch your pup’s body language to see when they are getting too cold to keep walking. Depending on the type of dog you have, you might need to cut their usual walks shorter so you can spend more time warming them up inside. A chilly pup could very easily turn into a sick pup! 🤒
3️⃣As the nights get longer and it gets dark much faster, always make sure your furbaby can be seen as much as possible in the darkness. The more visible your pup, the safer! 🔦

And most importantly, stay cozy and cuddle a lot with your furry friends this winter. Happy ! 💚🐾

Sometimes our Pet Care Specialists have to play I-Spy with all of their furry friends. 🔎 While they’re all hide-and-seek champions in our hearts, we definitely think some are a little bit more skilled in the art of sneaking than others. 😂

As the weather drops I’m sure we’re all starting to feel like cats; wanting to lounge around all day in warm sunspots and on top of heating vents. ♨ We think everyone should indulge in their inner kitty and stay nice and cozy this chilly winter Monday! ☃Whether it’s curling up under a thick blanket with a good book or enjoying a nice cup of hot chocolate, everyone deserves a warm and comfortable start to their week, just like these pretty kitties do every day! 🐈
