To all my friends and family. As a Professional Dog Trainer I have been blessed with caring and training dogs for at least 17m years and also as part of the training, educating the parents of the dogs as well. Our pets are our family and they bring so much comfort, love, companionship, protection and fun into our lives. They need care and nurturing just as our children do. It is important that we as dog parents care and protect our pets all the time in every way possible. Here are a few tips/reminders especially important for our pet's health and safety right now as we are entering the hot, summer season.
*Never, never, ever leave your dog in a vehicle unattended for any amount of time, for any reason. Even with the windows open, the heat and lack of air becomes unbearable and life threatening right away!
*Make it a habit to always have water available for your dog where ever you go.
*With the very hot temperatures outside, the sidewalk, cement and asphalt surfaces can burn the pads of your dog's paws. It is better to walk them on the grass or dirt. Do what ever you can to prevent their paws from the hot surfaces.
*When it is very hot outside, limit the amount of time and distance that you take your dog to walk/play. There is the danger of heat exhaustion. You could apply a cold/wet cloth on their heads, paws and their bellies to cool them off.
Hope everyone enjoys the summer with your pets and stay safe!
