But in all seriousness when I left my corporate job I wasn’t sure what value I’d bring to Jesse’s thriving business. I’m way too soft to train dogs but love being able to help with all your wellness and nutrition needs.

Growing up with sick dogs and having a holistic-minded mother grew into a passion for making dogs healthier. Plus it is SO fun giving all the CP dogs treats and bullies 🤭.
//
Don’t forget we price match every retailer in the city plus Pack Members receive 15% off all retail. Not a Member? No sweat! Daycare regulars and training alumni receive 10% off. Dog food is a crazy expensive industry and we don’t want our pack overpaying 👌🏼.

We carry some of my most loved brands in the retail store but I can also custom order if you don’t see what you want online.

My schedule is a tad busy with Carlito Burrito these days but I’m still offering complimentary nutrition consultations for all our clients as well.

I was actually turned onto them by a client who orders raw dog food from them (at a very reasonable price per pound!) but they have everything you could want for your human meals too.

Pack - If you’ve never been to then you are MISSING OUT. We’re continuing our 12 favorite small business of Christmas with our go-to sushi and date night restaurant.

We found this spot on a whim while I was pregnant and wanted to have a special date night for Mother’s Day (don’t @ me, yes I ate sushi and yes I think it’s perfectly healthy just like raw milk but if you make different health choices let’s all be kind).
//
The sushi is incredibly fun and fresh.
//
The margs have HOMEMADE syrup. We both love the guava! And they’re just as good nonalcoholic!
//
It’s a Latin fusion sushi joint so the flavors are unique and the non-sushi items are just as yummy if you’re not into raw fish.
//
And the service is a 12/10 every single time! If you’re lucky, the owner Jessie may even wait on you!! She’s a delight and not just because we love her name 😂.

We received the most beautiful holiday card in the mail yesterday.

With staffing issues and a newborn (did ANYONE want to warn me about the four month sleep regression?!) I did honestly consider skipping the howl-iday photos this year. Or at least scaling back to maybe just one day and one backdrop.
//
Getting this card in the mail makes me so glad I sucked it up 💪🏼. In my new mom era, it’s sometimes hard to step back and remember life before. You know, when I was just a crazy dog mom in love with her trainer 😂.
//
So thank you for reminding me why we do what we do. I truly love being part of Canine Perspective and getting to offer pawrents a place for structure and for everything else.

Don’t forget when you book a B&T with us, the program doesn’t end when you pick your dog up. Depending on the program length, you’ll receive multiple in-person sessions with Jesse to ensure all your questions are answered and you’re getting the most out of the training.
//
Other facilities may send home a newly-trained dog, but we always make sure the owners have ALL the tools to really get what they paid for. That’s what always impressed me about Jesse’s methods.

Our Story

Canine Perspective is owned and operated by Jesus ‘Jesse’ San Miguel. Clients frequently refer to him as, “The Chicago Dog Whisperer.” This is because Jesse possesses a natural intuition. An ability to look at a dog’s behavior and determine the cause, as well as, the solution.

It is because of this, that he does not focus on obedience. Instead, he teaches his clients how to understand and communicate with dogs to address behavioral issues. He sees things from a canine’s perspective, therefore achieving lasting results within minutes of working with your pet. An attribute of a true Dog Whisperer!

Jesse set about acquiring his knowledge through volunteer work at a local animal shelter in Harlingen, Texas because dogs with behavior issues make up a majority of their population. Leading him to not limit himself to their friendly dogs, but most importantly, motivating him to work with the “problem” dogs. He began to see how a vast number were simply misunderstood. A few of the dogs had even been through obedience courses that did nothing to address the animal’s behavioral issues. Unfortunately, euthanization is the destination for many of them. Because of this, Jesse’s primary focus is to educate everyone on the importance of understanding dogs, as well as, their respective needs.

Realizing a need to learn more. Jesse began seeking out answers after working with two behavioral cases that were outside of his scope of knowledge at the time. Leading him to an internship with world renown dog trainer, Richard Heinz, “The Miami Dog Whisperer.”
