Hi!!! Long time no see, share or catifying your feed! Long story short, for now, I’m on a new adventure and learning more about kittens at a 24/7 days a week, 365 days a year Kitten Nursery at in Texas near my family. Operation Kindness has been getting baby after baby (I’ll include actual numbers in the stories ASAP!) and fosters, everyone who works here and neighboring shelters are killin it when it comes to working together. The kittens and puppies here are just a snapshot of what we have seen in the last month.

All that said there has been a dog flu outbreak. At a no kill shelter that means tons of resources get shifted to care for the critical animals which you have a sneak peek of in the video ❤️‍🩹

I thought there is no better way to give back to this incredible team I am working with than by rallying the Chicago and worldwide group of people that came through for us all the times we needed it at The Windy Kitty.

Today was goodbye to Bucktown and hello to what we will become! Definitely wasn’t easy. How fitting though that on the very day we were moving out we had an amazing donation given to us for our new place. is an amazing Chicagoland realtor that gives 10% of EVERY commission to the rescue of the sellers choice and is a badass vegan activist. If you need someone who will work hard AND do good in the world, she’s your person. 🤩

We will be raising lots of funds for the new place so it can be the best of the best for the kitties. What will that look like??

1️⃣-Windy Kitty part 2 will have a shy cat room, a kitten room, a cat lounge, a proper laundry/kitchen and vet area and better check-in area. We need a lot more space!

2️⃣-We will open the Chicago Kitten Nursery on the same property. This will be more of a medical facility used to care for neonatal orphan kittens and nursing mothers. We will have a classroom and offices in there as well!

3️⃣-A proper cafe’ish! Did you know I’m also a baker? will have an on-site kitchen of some sort so you can have YUMMY stuff while visiting kitties.

4️⃣-is my surprise that I’m holding on to just for me.

5️⃣- I know everyone wants to know where we will be but we honestly don’t know. Just know that there is a formula to it and foot traffic and public transportation accessibility is one of the most important factors for this type of business. We also want to be part of the Invest Southwest program so this will be tricky!

Windy Kitty will also have Kitten Milk, toys, furniture, cleaning supplies, cat trees, dishes, blankets and litter. Heck we even have small animal pellets that were donated to us at one point too for the hamsters in your life. Full disclosure, some items have been fully catted up and some may be broken if you are the fixing type. Friday the 12th 12pm to 4pm and Saturday the 13th 12pm to 5pm. First come first serve.

Windy Kitty is having a couple free for all days! We have Royal Canin and Hills kidney and renal and thyroid foods, both wet and dry, as well as lots of other brands and flavors. Treats too! Folks, I’m begging you all to not sleep on LadyBear and Stella. This bonded mother daughter duo is sweet, gentle, snuggly and soft. LadyBear loves chasing her favorite sparkly red ball and Stella loves curling up in her favorite cat tree. They also apparently love the food bins by the breaker box.

With her green eyes, long whiskers, and adorable pink freckled nose, Diamond looks like a cartoon cat. She loves to sit on her foster parents’ laps while they work, or cuddle up close to them while on the couch. When she is happy she will rub against your leg and lay on her side nearby, beckoning you to pet her. Diamond loves to play with interactive toys and play catch with a toy mouse. She will walk around meowing, proudly presenting you her kill. She enjoys exploring her environment and is very curious, following her foster parents around the house. Diamond will come running at the sound of a treat bag, which is a good way to earn even more of her affection.
Diamond is estimated to be 8-9 years old. She seems to not care for other pets. We are recommending a home with not no other cats or dogs. Diamond is fully vetted and ready to make your house her home.

❤️Three years and 2 1/2 months ago we had our first adoption on opening night. Today we announce goodbye, or more appropriately see you again soon. Today we announce our departure from this location & from all of you for a little while. 💔

🥊We have fought hard to stay open for the cats, the community and employees but that is just not possible anymore. Instead of hoping more funds will come through we are taking advantage of this time to look for a NEW location & to fundraise so we can have a shy room, A KITTEN NURSERY (EEK!), kitten Korner, a proper cafe, more storage, etc. Though it is hard to leave this location & you all it is not forever. We hope you’ll stick around to see what we become. We will come back bigger & stronger but not without you.

I keep going between “me” & “we” when writing this. I’ve never truly been alone so I guess it feels foreign to say “me” alone. I have an amazing team of employees, Amy, Emily, Kate, Jessica, Paul & Sara have kept this place alive while I grieved what I knew would be an eventual closing. Even if it’s temporary it’s not easy. This place is a dream in living form, letting that go SUCKS! I thank every one of you from the bottom of my heart for turning what one woman with only one goal & one dream wanted to achieve & making that reality. You all have my heart. See you soon. We give you... the elusive Caterpillar! Our very own Norma Desmond has been hiding from the public for too long and has finally stepped back into the spotlight for her close up. She may still be closed in her own private screening room the next time you visit but we finally have proof she exists! And we swear she is soft and fluffy! Caterpillar must be adopted with her mama Leaf.

Theo is a nice, young cat. He is laid back and friendly. He’s always looking for you so he can rest next to you and seek love, attention, and lots of pets. He is very playful and enjoys being entertained with a wand toy. Because he is so young and playful, we think Theo would be happiest in a home in which he has another young cat(s) with which he can play and socialize.
