This is Gloria this morning at 5:15am. She could not contain her happiness about traveling to Chicago to find her perfect forever loving home. If there's one thing all of our pups are, it's grateful!
Cheers!
Rant Warning-
This video perfectly sums up the state of animal welfare right now. I know I'm preaching to the choir, but this is so upsetting and needs to stop. We live in a time where municipal shelters are no longer about public safety and are bursting at the seams because they are bogged down with undesirable animals, we have record numbers of people who come up with the most cockamamie reasons to give up their animals and we have irresponsible owners who allow their pets to have litter after litter which they can shove in a tote and dump at the door of a shelter then walk off scott free leaving us to try to figure out where in a finite space we're going to put this little surprise. We have exasperated animal lovers who are desperately trying to find creative solutions for problems we never created and take on the burden that isn't ours.
We are exhausted, depressed and abused.
I am done for the moment, but please consider making a donation so I can treat my staff to a nice meal. UGH!
So, we're owning up to the fact that this bonded pair is entirely our fault. Meet our latest "Oopsie Duo" - Hootie & Fuji! If you came to our Open House you had the chance to meet Hootie who fulfilled the role of Santa for our visitors. For the last few months he's been confined to being our Community Center cat, as he's nothing short of a menace on the cat floor - trying to bully everyone in his path. Cue - Fuji.
Fuji came into our care as a kitten with some of the most severe pneumonia we've seen. After nearly 2 months of treatment, he was declared healthy & pneumonia free, and we celebrated by letting him get some extra lovin' living out the last few days of his medications in the office. We held our breath while these two interacted between the baby gate, waiting for Hootie to show his colors and whack-a-mole Fuji out of the room - BUT - to our surprise, these boys hit it off! One escaped Fuji into the CC, and these boys were snuggling nonstop, playing left & right, and grooming each other continually.
We thought Fuji just wanted a companion, and tried to integrate him onto the cat floor - for which he immediately threw a tantrum and demanded he return to his catdad.
So here we are, our mellow 1 eyed, FIV+, 9.5 year old cat that wants nothing more than to snuggle, have some snacks, and be with his buddy, bonded entirely to our 7.5 month old purr machine chatter box that wants to give you smooches, bounce around, and, quite literally, tuck himself in in bed each night.
They're the best of both worlds, and everything you could want in a dynamic duo! Email [email protected] to set your appointment to meet the quirkiest Oopsie duo in all of F&C history!
