Ok, folks. Since you've been blowing me up over some 5XL puppies, I'm going to try to bring the entire litter to Chicago on Tuesday. I can only take who I have serious interest in as there are adults and other puppies waiting to travel. SO...here are the rest of the B litter. They're supposed to be some fancy Newfie mix, so just be ok with the fact that they will likely weigh more than you! Fill out an app and email me at [email protected] to set up a meet!

Ok, I'm not gonna lie. You all know I have "types", whether it be fat faced FIV boys or huge dogs, they absolutely melt me. This is why I am so excited/envious regarding this next group of puppies arriving Tuesday!

This week we took in 87 dogs and cats from our local shelters and were ready to pass out from exhaustion for the weekend. But as we all know in animal welfare - planning to rest simply doesn't exist! Dekalb Animal Control in Alabama had 21 pups dumped on them this afternoon, leaving them completely overwhelmed and in desperate need of help. With limited kennel space remaining - we were only able to accommodate 11 puppies at the Rescue Center. In a moment of desperation, we reached out to our friends at Greater Huntsville Humane Society (GHHS), A New Leash on Life, and Rocket City Rescue to see if they could help with any of the remaining ten puppies. Without hesitation, all three groups responded that each could take some puppies into their program, allowing us to move fifteen out of Dekalb this evening and the remaining six pups tomorrow. To have fellow rescue partners who are willing to collaborate, support one another, and put the animals needs first is such a beautiful thing and not always seen in the animal welfare community. We are SO grateful to everyone at GHHS, ANLOL and RCR for their compassion and urgency in times of need. While Alabama has some of the worst problems when it comes to how our communities care (or don't care) for their animals, we are blessed to have some seriously incredible rescue groups constantly cleaning up these messes. The animals would be in such a terrible predicament if it weren't for rescue groups like these. Get ready to see some new puppies coming soon!

Happy Friday Everybody!
Cats arrived safely at F&C last night and as we're all surprisingly aware, there's some pretty big snowstorms her in Alabama and other parts of the nation. Whenever it snows, it take me back to the conversations I used to have with people regarding southern pups traveling north. It shocks me just how many reverse snowbirds there are and how joyous some pups, and even cats, are to go play in the stuff! This was around 6:30 this morning and the goobers in this video are Loki and our former neighborhood stray, Oatie!
They're having a blast, but no stores here are open for at least the next two days! Cheers!

A long long time ago, a woman named Sam was stalking our page. Anytime I needed somebody schlepped to an appointment or picked up from who knows where, this woman would appear at our shelter, carrier in hand, immediately rearing to go. Well, instead of keeping an awesome volunteer, I hired her as an adoptions counselor. She quickly took on more responsibilities and became our Operations Director of F&C Chicago, allowing me to go to Alabama and do the work we do here. She does a great job and LOVES the cats and neonates that come our way.
Anywho- it’s her birthday and what I’d like to give her is a ton of cat adoption update pics, with a few dog ones tossed in for good measure.

This post is a labor of love. In February of 2023, I was alerted to a senior declawed cat who's guardian passed away and was alone in the house for over two weeks. She was rightfully scared, thin and confused. I figured we'd have her in a Hospice situation since she would be way too old to stress out with transport and settled her in as my Administrative Assistant. She blossomed here and it was quickly discovered that she was closer to 6 years than 16. When we had an opening in our house, we jumped at the chance to take her home but while she loved the dogs, she detested other cats, so she was not a good fit for us. She came back to the shelter and after a bit we realized just how selfish it would be to keep this amazing cat here. See, while everybody smothered her with love, what she really liked was sleeping in a proper bed with her people. I was going to bring her to Chicago on Monday, but for some strange reason, I kept her here. Well, I quickly found out that the strange reason is named Teresa and she had been looking for a declawed cat for some time. She came and met her yesterday and our girl jumped into her lap immediately and my Happy/Sad moment began. I tried to disqualify the adopter by saying things like, she sleeps with her entire weight on my wrist while I'm typing, and I've seen more of her butt up close than my computer screen, and she is going to insist on sleeping in bed with you....etc. Teresa sat there smiling from ear to ear thinking this cat will be all over her all of the time and my fears and worries disappeared. She finalized today and will be picking up this little one tomorrow so the staff here gets to bid her farewell.
I will miss the tail mustache, biscuits on my pooch and her screaming at me for no reason.

Oh, 2024. If I can be brutally honest, you've been a real ass kicker. Here is to hoping that 2025 brings us some relief from overcrowded shelters and masses of unwanted litters. Here's to more adoptions and less returns. And mostly, here's to people being kinder, gentler and just plain nice to each other.

This is why we rescue. A short 36 hours after coming here, these pups are having a blast! I cannot explain how meaningful this is to have them blossom in our care and relax enough here to be silly, playful little dogs. This would not be possible without your support and I thank you SO much for your generosity. The B Crew and I could not be more grateful if we tried! Enjoy the video!!
