Hold onto your leashes because I’ve got some tail-wagging news to share with you!

After 12 long, dog-less years, guess who’s back in the puppy parent game? 🐶🎉 Yep, we’ve adopted a fur-bulous canine companion, and let me tell you, it’s been two weeks of fun surprises!

​Here are 5 things I forgot about being a puppy parent:

**A Shifty Situation: The energy and movement in our home have dramatically changed in a good way. Everything feels refreshingly playful. Now down time includes less screens and more belly rubs and fetch sessions!

**Potty Puzzle: Potty training? Oh boy, it’s messier than a mud pie! Sure as a pet care professional I know the guidelines, but this pup will literally p*e inside 5 minutes after he p*ed outside!!!!

**Social Paws-ing: I’d forgotten how many new friends you meet when you’re out with your pup! Our walks have doubled as social hours, making our community feel even more connected.

**Out and About: Speaking of walks, we are out and about way more often now. Rain or shine, there’s always an excuse to get some fresh air and a romp around the block. I love it!

**Uniquely Yours: No two dogs are the same! Regardless of past experiences, each new furry friend has their own set of quirks and charms, and care routines that suit their unique personality.

Joining the puppy parent club again has added an exciting splash of joy to our daily lives, (and also has me exhausted at times.. lol)

Paws-itively Thrilled to Share...

Our fur-tastic team gathering today was a real treat (and I’m not just talking about the pup-licious cameos)!

But here’s the scoop: I’ve been flying under the radar for 6 whole weeks, exploring the European scene! And you know why I could take a breather? It’s because my incredible team at Chicago Urban Pets has got this! They’re the cat’s pajamas when it comes to organization, communication, and delivering top-notch services that embody the CUP spirit!

So, was it just a coincidence that I stumbled upon this dream team? Nope! It took 11 years of intentional hiring, investing in my own education, and a whole lotta love to curate this squad of rockstars!

Of course, not every team member made it to our impromptu Lakeview East park picnic (but you can swipe right to meet the rest of the gang)! Just wanted to give a shoutout to my awesome team for keeping the wheels turning while I was out! ”

Recently, our 6yo son’s friend shared they identify as the opposite s*x, changing their name and clothing preference. Seeing our children normalize and support each other without question is a powerful reminder of the acceptance and love that can be normalized, not much different from that we receive with dogs (and why living among diversity is so important).
In a world filled with conflict, let’s take a lesson from our children furry friends: differences make us unique, and love unites us all.
