Famous Fido Rescue Program -Rehoming Chief

Meet Chief, A very handsome and healthy 72 LB male German Shepherd who's former guardian recently passed away. After Chief lost his mom, a relative traveled to pick Chief up, so he didn't end up in a shelter.

Chief is currently residing in Rosemont, IL. His new guardian, unfortunately, works very long hours, and is also going though some financial hardships. He is looking for a new home for Chief where he will get the love, companionship, exercise, and security he so desperately deserves.

Chief is reported to be around 3years old, however, he has both the energy and the teeth of a younger dog. Chief has a great disposition and enjoys human companionship. He gets along with other canine companions with proper introduction. Chief is crate trained. He enjoys long walks, and takes frequent pack walks with the neighbor dog. Chief is UTD on vaccinations and is microchipped and neutered.

If you are interested in adopting Chief through Famous Fido Rescue's Rehoming Program, please fill out an application on our website www.famousfidorescue.org.

Chicago, IL – Adopt Coal the Blue and White Pit Bull Terrier

Coal is a happy, sweet, and playful, two-year-old, 50-pound, male blue and white Pit Bull Terrier looking for a loving guardian.

Coal came into Chicago Animal Care and Control the day after Christmas 2024. Found stray on the far south side of Chicago, this super nice boy loves people and is tail-waggingly friendly both with dogs as well as cats. He is currently living in a foster home with a dachshund and two cats and doing great! He sleeps on the floor in the bedroom and his foster mom no longer crates him.

Coal loves treats and will sit automatically for them. And, then he may jump in your lap.

He’s great in the home, housebroken, loves squeaky toys, nice on car rides (especially the one that drove him from the shelter to his foster home), and even good on leashed walks.

Coal is now healthy, neutered, up-to-date on rabies, distemper and Bordetella vaccines, micro-chipped, heartworm-tested and on monthly preventative. His adoption fee of $200 benefits the rescued pets of Friends of Petraits Rescue.

If you are interested in meeting and possibly adopting Coal, please fill in an adoption application at https://friendsofpetraits.com/dog-adoption-application/ and follow up by contacting [email protected] to make an appointment to meet him.

He is currently being fostered in Elmwood Park, a suburb just west of Chicago, Illinois.

We are baffled. Truly. We cannot understand why no one has applied to adopt Hunter.

This boy is the total package - he’s smart, gentle, loving, friendly with every person he meets, has excellent manners, and gets along great with other dogs. He’s the kind of companion that would never let you down. So why is he being overlooked? Why is he still waiting?

It makes zero sense.

Hunter has been nothing but patient. Nothing but hopeful. And it’s breaking our hearts to see him passed by again and again. He deserves a family who will treasure him, love him endlessly, and never let him go. Could that be you? Could this be the weekend his luck finally changes?

Maybe the Luck of the Irish is on his side! 🍀 Help us get Hunter seen by commenting a 🍀 shamrock emoji below and sharing his post far and wide. Let’s make some magic happen for this sweet boy!

And if you're ready to open your heart and home to the most loyal companion, apply to adopt Hunter today: https://famousfidorescue.org/dog-adoption-application. Let’s get him home. Let’s make this his lucky weekend. Please share!

If you aren't able to adopt, but want to help, please consider donating. Funds help provide food, housing, and medical care for Hunter and all the rescue animals like him: https://famousfidorescue.org/donate

HELP NEEDED WITH LAUNDRY

Both of our washing machines have broken down, and we are swimming in a mountain of towels and blankets that desperately need washing! Our laundry is quite literally piled up to the ceiling, and we need your help to get through it!

If you’re able to stop by Famous Fido Rescue today and take a load (or two) home to wash and bring back, we would be so incredibly grateful. Every clean towel and blanket makes a huge difference for the comfort of our rescue animals.

Location: 3124 W Irving Park Rd, Chicago
When: Anytime today if you can!

This is one of those behind-the-scenes rescue tasks that doesn’t seem glamorous but is so important. If you can lend a hand, you’ll be making a world of difference for the animals counting on us.

Thank you in advance to our amazing community!

Friends,

We continue to advocate for the installation of lighting at Puptown to make it accessible and welcoming well into the evening hours.

Please sign our online petition to demonstrate our strong community support for this very worthwhile investment. Our community is over 100 members strong, and our goal is to bring over 100 signatures to Alder Hoppenworth and the Park District leadership.

Mike Brown, the Supervisor of Margate Park Fieldhouse, supports our efforts and will advocate for us. The first step is to show our strong community support.

Bring Light to Puptown Dog Park

09/23/2024

Friends,

We recently found several bags of he**in in the space just east of Puptown (very near the pollinator garden). A resident in the encampment informed us that it was brought in last night by another individual.

We have notified the Alder (Clay) and will file a police incident report.

We have communicated with the Alder our increasing concerns about these issues. The encampment has grown, and with it potential threats to dogs and their owners. The obvious dynamic is that water service attracts more tents. We have suggested to the Alder that establishing a water service at a location away from dog parks, playgrounds and other high use areas might be a wise thing to do. Frankly, it would seem to be a no-brainer.

Please contact the Alder if you are equally concerned about this situation. Many voices are more effective than one voice.
