We are thrilled to announce the Friendly Paws Grooming Shop will be expanding!! Most importantly thank you to everyone for supporting this salon - you've made dreams come true!! Also, thank you for your understanding through this slight inconvenience. Closing will allow us to efficiently and safely knock out all the construction we need to do. Here’s what you can look forward to! ��

✨𝕊𝕡𝕒𝕔𝕖✨ Since hiring additional stylists the salon felt a little tight. Our stylists book one appointment at a time so having space for dogs to continue experiencing undivided attention with minimal distractions is so important to us! ��

✨ ℚ𝕦𝕚𝕖𝕥 ✨ This one is huge. Being able to isolate our dryers will make the salon more quiet at all times for dogs and clients walking in! �

✨𝔼𝕕𝕦𝕔𝕒𝕥𝕚𝕠𝕟✨ It has always been a dream of ours to provide opportunities for professional pet stylists and pet parents to further their education on properly caring for our dogs skin, coat, and grooming needs. Having a little more room will open this door for us to explore the options of offering classes and seminars on sight. ���

✨𝔸𝕕𝕕𝕚𝕥𝕚𝕠𝕟𝕒𝕝 𝕊𝕖𝕣𝕧𝕚𝕔𝕖𝕤 ✨ More room means we will soon be able to offer bath memberships and packages so our clients to stay clean between grooms and during the months were they are actively playing outside.

Seamus says grooming can be preeeetttyy scary for a new pup. Lots of noise, new tools, smells, and more. But at the Friendly Paws we take the time to keep these puppies reassured. Puppies sometimes need to be shown there’s nothing to fear. By the end of Seamus’s groom he was wiggling, giving kisses, and playing with delight!

Ah!! The satisfaction of bringing a hand-stripped coat back to life!!! 

When I set out to groom professionally I dreamt about becoming a terrier specialist. I’m in awe of how striking hand stripped coats look. Hand-stripping in general is my favorite technique. However, it’s especially satisfying to restore a clippered coat. 2023 brought me TIPO the Cairn and BEA the Wire Fox Terrier. 

Both families came to me with hopes to fix damaged coats, and we DID! Boy am I happy because (hand-stripped or not) I just can’t get enough of these two cuties 😍😍! 
What feels even better is how pleased their families are to have that healthy, colored, textured hair back. And you know what they say, LOOK GOOD FEEL GOOD 😛 Don’t get me wrong, this sort of thing is time consuming and sometimes not even guaranteed. With hand-stripping it takes weeks to see the results of the work you put in. But boy is it worth it!! 

Thank you to all my hand-stripped terrier clients who share their happiness with other terriers because their referrals have made me so happy over the years. It felt good this year to be recognized and appreciated for providing this service. ❤️

The Friendly Paws Grooming Shop

Sarah Devlin, owner and head stylist of The Friendly Paws Grooming Shop in Edison Park, always had her mind set on working and caring for animals. In 2011 she graduated from a grooming academy and began working full time in the field. Since graduating, her passion has only grown to continue to learn and progress within the grooming industry so that she can bring her knowledge, skills, and expertise into her craft of everyday pet grooming. She began competing in dog grooming shows and has two dogs of her own that she stays very active with, Hermann a 4 year old Miniature Schnauzer and Charlotte a 1 year old Lakeland Terrier. Sarah is CPR certified and has completed a Canine Esthetician certification course where she learned how to evaluate the needs of skin and coat and address ways to help alleviate any symptoms by using specific methods or products in the grooming process. Sarah is skilled in the art of hand stripping and welcomes any and all terrier or wire coat breed owners to consider this method of grooming to maintain the proper color, health, and texture of these dogs. The Friendly Paws Grooming Shop is a neighborhood grooming shop with a retro-inspired look. At The Friendly Paws each dogs is given one on one attention and from the moment they walk in to the moment their photo is taken before going home.
