🐾FOSTER FOLLOW UP🐾
Trigger has been enjoying his time in foster the last couple weeks and this is what they have had to say about some things they have noticed:
Separation Anxiety: We haven't seen signs of harmful separation anxiety. I recorded him while I left the house for a few minutes and other than a little cry he's good about being left at home.
Barking: He's not very vocal, and doesn't bark at home except to alert (i.e. doorbell, train going by)
Crates & Gates: He doesn't use the crate; it's been available to him and we tried feeding him in it but it's not his thing. We haven't crated him when we leave b/c he really likes laying on the couch and hasn't chewed or done anything destructive. We've kept him and Wallace separate with a gate when we leave and no one is complaining. He definitely likes being with his people, so if he's gated in a section we're not in he'll sit right by the gate and eventually (5 mins) maybe cry a little.
Potty Trained: He's fully potty trained.
🐾Since Trigger is a hound mix he does have a strong prey drive when it comes to squirrels, bunnies, frogs, and deer when outside. He is a strong boy so will pull someone to get to these distractions and will need work on leash training with these things.
🐾Trigger also has some one sided beef with cars driving by. We don’t know much about his past on the south but he could have developed a fear of cars which in turn turns into reactivity. He is so fixated on them that he'll do anything to get to them. It doesn't seem to be all cars, but he pulls and barks so hard that walking him on any street can be rough.
