Amanda is our second longest resident now and she was able to get out of the shelter Friday for a Doggy Day Out and she had a blast!
She has been at the shelter for 242 days with no adoption interest.
Amanda is a great girl! She is spayed, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. Amanda has done well meeting other dogs at the shelter.
She is about 2.5 years old and 45 lbs.
There are more photos of her in the comments. Please come meet her!
Update: sent to rescue
Despite the fact that since Monday, we've taken in 35 animals and we are still housing over 150 dogs, we cannot quit thinking about Shana. We understand that Shana has behavior issues that our small shelter staff is not equipped to handle and therefore have decided to hold her until close of business Monday, 07/15/24, in an effort to allow a rescue to pull her for a behavioral evaluation with the understanding that a waiver will have to be signed
While we would love the ability to fully assess each animal and have enough funds to provide individual training to each dog, that is simply not the reality. Every single day we are faced with the reality of over population in our county. We also understand that we have the duty to ensure public safety, as that is our number one priority, and the main reason that the Animal Shelter and Animal Control are in place. We are the ones responsible for making decisions that shatter the spirit of every staff member. After all, we didn't just see a picture of Shana on the news, we have cared for her since February.
So here we are, after hours on a Friday night, with emails to respond to, calls to make, paperwork to catch up on, but our minds are all on the same thing, Shana. We truly hope the community will put in the same amount of effort for the other dogs that are at the shelter as we are still considered urgent due to space.
Shana can only be released to a GA licensed rescue. If you are an out of state rescue and want to pull her, you will have to go through a GA licensed rescue. GA Department of Ag license will be required.
Update: sent to rescue
Shana is an extremely smart girl who is just having a tough time living in a kennel at the shelter. She’s been with us 142 days and it’s taken a toll on her.
She is approximately 3-4 years old and 70 lbs. When she was new at the shelter, she was penned with another dog for several weeks. As time went by, we separated them because they were no longer good kennel mates. Unfortunately, living in a shelter for so long can sometimes change a dog. She has been dog friendly but yesterday, met another dog and didn’t do well. She was extremely overstimulated and will most definitely need appropriate decompression time once out of the shelter. Please consider this if you want to adopt her. It may take her some time to adapt and settle into a new environment.
Please come see her 🩷
UPDATE: He has been adopted!
This sweet boy is Cove. He came into the shelter as a feral kitty but turns out, he’s not so feral! Once he had a little time to decompress, he realized human affection is a good thing. ♥️
He’s been neutered (and ear tipped), he’s up to date on vaccines and ready for a home!
He is free roaming in our cat area and loves to nap in the newspaper bin.
His adoption fee is waived! Please share so we can find his new home!
‼️‼️ URGENT ‼️‼️
Please share Bailey! She has to be out of the shelter by Friday, 05/17/24!!
We currently have 4 nursing momma cats with a combined total of 🥁 🥁…. 28 underage kittens.
2 of the moms are semi-feral and 2 are extremely friendly.
We are in desperate need of cat rescue help!
Please share with any licensed cat rescues!
We always have people wanting small breed puppies. These babies are about 5-6 months old and are between 9-12 lbs. They shouldn’t be over 20 lbs, best guess! There are 5 total that need forever homes! They are available for adoption!!
Update: rescue commitment! ❤️❤️
Any rescues willing to give this sweet older man a chance? He came in as a stray and definitely seems to have something neuro going on but he’s soooo sweet and kind. He loves affection and will try to give you all his kisses.
He’s been eating and drinking well and is pottying. Having trouble walking due to being so wobbly. When he hears the treat bag, his ears stand straight up! He’s definitely had a hard life but we’d like to give him the chance to know love and kindness.
Please share him for rescue!
