with a delicious custom roast that you will love. Since we don’t prepare food or drinks inside our space, you don’t have to worry -- our place is clean, safe, and all about the kitties. October is Black Cat Awareness Month, and today — National Black Cat Day — we celebrate the magic, mystery, and misunderstood beauty of every cat who wears their midnight coat like a crown. 🖤👑

At the heart of our café’s story are two black cats:
✨ Noire, our real-life muse — wise, soulful, endlessly curious.
✨ Babette, her café alter ego — our imaginary mascot and storyteller who reminds us to follow the fog, trust the whispers, and believe in new beginnings.

Babette was born from Noire’s quiet strength — a symbol of intuition, transformation, and the courage to create even when the future feels uncertain. 🌙☕

🐾💫 The Comeback Cat Café Story Continues… 💫🐾

We know so many of you are eagerly waiting to hear where the Chico Cat Café will land next — and believe us, we’re just as excited to share! Our reopening has been slightly delayed because (gasp!) our last potential landlord… DIDN'T LIKE CATS! 😿

YEP...after weeks of hopeful walk throughs and meetings, the lovely place we were hoping to make ours in the sneak peek we dropped...is no more.

But don’t worry — the purr-fect space is out there. In fact, we’re already in negotiations for a new location that has all the charm, character, and vintage feel we love — and a layout that’s even better suited for a cat café! 🐈‍⬛☕️

Since opening our doors in November 2022, Chico Cat Café has welcomed 15,823 visitors — from all over California and even from Oregon, Washington, Nevada, New Mexico, Colorado, Pennsylvania, Hawaii, New York, and Minnesota! 🗺️✨ Some visitors have even rerouted their vacations just to see us and other cat cafés along the way.

We’ve:
🐾 Helped people heal from loss through connection with cats.
🐾 Given seniors, disabled adults, and first-time cat lovers a safe space to feel joy.
🐾 Inspired visitors to open their hearts again and adopt a rescue cat they never expected to love.

From a little Craftsman house filled with whiskers and wonder, we’ve grown into a movement — one that’s changing how cats are cared for and adopted across the North State. ❤️

Now we’re ready for our next chapter — and we’d love your help finding it!

🐾💔 Urgent Foster Call — Help Us Turn Fear Into Trust! 💔🐾

We need a special kind of hero right now — the kind with patience, gentleness, and a soft spot for the “spicy” ones. 🌶️🐱

Neighborhood Cat Advocates has just rescued three frightened 3–4 month-old kittens from a local junior high school — and we’re working to safely trap a fourth sibling who will need a foster home soon too.

The school isn’t safe for them, and we don’t want to send them back. These little ones deserve a chance to learn that human hands mean love, not fear. 💕

We’re looking for experienced fosters who can provide a quiet, calm environment and consistent, patient interaction. Ideally, these kittens can stay together as a group, or be split into two pairs for socialization.

✨ The ideal foster home:
Someone home most of the day to check in often
No small children or barking dogs
A separate room where they can safely decompress
No cat doors with outdoor access

This is a crucial window — they’re right on the edge of being too old to socialize. With your love and time, they still have a chance to become adoptable, affectionate cats instead of returning to a life outdoors. 🏡🐾

🎬🐾 The Cat’s Out of the Bag… We’re on The Blox! 🚀

🐾 Big news, friends — in just two weeks I’ll be leaving to film for The Blox, a national business incubator show that helps founders grow through community, coaching, and a bit of friendly competition.

I am one of nearly 40,000 contestants who auditioned for the last season of 2025 - and 1 of the 150 entrepreneurs who made the final cut for Season 24 🥳

When I stepped away from our cat cafe, I promised myself I’d keep learning how compassion and entrepreneurship can coexist.

The Blox is my chance to do exactly that — to gather insights, refine my next chapter, and share them with all of you.

For the past three years, we’ve been bootstrapping our cat cafe from the ground up — starting with just $50K and a dream in a small, rural college town.

And now, as our lease has ended, we’re not closing a chapter… we’re evolving into something even bigger!

That’s why we’re taking everything we’ve learned — every late-night clean-up, every adoption, every cup poured with purpose — and letting the fur fly with the (coming soon!) launch of our new podcast, Cat Café Confidential.

This isn’t just a podcast about starting a cat café.

It’s about reimagining the way purpose-driven businesses are built — creating cafés that fit your energy and lifestyle (instead of draining it), building sustainable, profitable, mission-driven ventures, and sharing real stories and strategies from our own journey through the fog.

We’re not just growing a business — we’re building an ecosystem that helps other cat cafés and compassionate entrepreneurs thrive. Through our Pawsitive Paradigm brand, we’re creating a connected world of education, mentorship, and community — from our podcast to our online membership community and future Cat Café Chamber of Commerce.

It’s a movement designed to help dreamers everywhere build cafés and causes that are sustainable, soulful, and built to last.

And now, thanks to The Blox, we get to scale that vision bigger than ever — bringing this movement to TV, learning from top business minds, and showing how love, alignment, and community can completely transform an industry.

I’m not going in to compete — I’m going in to grow.

Wonder what all of these rooms are for??
The cat’s got our tongue (for now 😉)…
though we might have a few things tucked inside our whiskers. 😼

We’re eagerly anticipating the pitter-patter of kitty feets in our next home — but before any toe beans touch the ground, we have to check a few important boxes on what we’re calling the Feline Trifecta:
1️⃣ The landlord said YES! to our Letter of Intent — YAY! 🎉
2️⃣ We’re making forward progress on our lease — it’s being written and negotiated as we speak! Double yay! 🐾
3️⃣ But... our lease is contingent on the county approving the building’s use as a cat café.

Here’s the scoop: the building is currently zoned as a preschool, and before any whiskers move in, the county must approve the change in usage. That means an architect (the same cat-loving one we worked with before opening our Esplanade location!) will be drawing up our plans for review.

We won’t be altering the building at all, but the process still needs to go through official channels — so don’t shower the situation with cat litter and confetti just yet! 😸

We’re waiting on the county’s 4-paws-up approval before we can estimate a re-opening date. Once we know what (if any) adjustments are required, we’ll have a better idea of our timeline.

In the meantime, we’ll be back next week-ish with fur-ther updates. 📰

The Last Photo on the Wall

On our very last day in this space, as we gathered up the last threads of our story here, we took down the final photo from our adoption wall.

It was of Petals—a cranky, complicated, multicolored calico who lived within these walls for almost a year.

Her coat was a patchwork of colors, just like her story: layers of shadow and light, sharp edges softened by time, a reminder that beauty is often found in what endures. She came to us guarded, uncertain, not always easy to love—but she left with a family who saw through every layer and chose her for all that she was.

In that moment, taking down her picture, it felt symbolic. Petals was the last thread holding this chapter together. Like us, she carried both the weight of the hard days and the grace of second chances. Like us, she weathered transitions, and still—her story found its happy ending.

Today, we hand over the keys to this space. The walls may be empty, but they hold the echoes of every purr, every adoption, every goodbye that led to a new beginning. And like Petals, we step into the next chapter carrying every color, every layer, every lesson with us.

Endings are never just endings. They are a promise that something else waits just beyond the door. Here's to unwritten stories and wishful hearts...and all of the souls (the felines and the humans) who have found their beginnings with us😻🐈‍⬛💫🏡
