A 1910s-1920s French-inspired foster space for rescued cats and kittens...We are Chico's Cat Curiosity Shop! Curl up and cuddle with wonderfully sweet kitties in a relaxing, themed cafe-style environment. These are all adoptable cats and kittens from local rescues who need a forever home! If the cuteness overload works up your thirst, we’ve partnered with a cat-tastic coffee roaster to provide you

with a delicious custom roast that you will love. Since we don’t prepare food or drinks inside our space, you don’t have to worry -- our place is clean, safe, and all about the kitties. As Chico’s only cat cafe, we at Chico Cat Cafe are incredibly delighted to bring the cat experience concept to the North State for the first time! Any occasion is better celebrated with cats (mais oui!), so whether it’s date night, you need a quick kitten snuggle fix, you’re out for a special occasion, or looking for your new BFF (best furry friend), our staff and kitties can’t wait to welcome you soon - xo Miaou, Babette

Meet Boots & Jumper!! Some people wake up the day before Thanksgiving thinking about cooking and baking, but Boots and Jumper decided it was the perfect day to show up on their foster mom’s porch, ready to purr their way into her heart. And they succeeded! These two handsome orange boys wasted no time proving they were cuddle professionals, always up for belly rubs and head scratches.

Boots and Jumper can be perfect lap cats, happiest when tucked under your arm for a nap. Their purrs could lull you to sleep. Be careful because they will use their big purrs and loving eyes to try to get you stay and cuddle them all day. But they have a playful streak too. If there’s a high spot to reach, a toy to pounce, or red dot to chase, these two are on a race for it.

They’re the perfect blend of playful and affectionate, always keeping each other (and their people) entertained. These Thanksgiving boys brought warmth and joy to their foster home, and now, they’re ready to fill their forever home with double the love and double the purrs. One of our PAWSOME rescue partners, Catnip & Cattitude, is POPPING with kittens!! So...what does a cat cafe do when faced with this crisis of cuteness???? We hold a Kitten PAWP-UP ADOPTION FAIRE!

WHERE: Chico Cat Cafe 1725 Esplanade in Chico
WHEN: Saturday, February 8th from 2-4pm

HELP US CELEBRATE CATNIP & CATTITUDE’S WORK:
Catnip & Cattitude will be showcasing the CUTEST selection of kittens in our cat lounge in addition to the 12 cats and kittens already calling our cozy space their temporary home. Catnip & Cattitiude is a feline-only non-profit organization based out of Willows – they are committed to helping abandoned, forgotten and surrendered cats and kittens and since our partnership in August of 2023, have adopted over 100 felines through the Chico Cat Café!

This Kitten season has been a doozy - it has produced hundreds, if not thousands, of unplanned litters and in partnership to help find the perfect homes for these fantastic young felines in our community, we're hosting this event this summer for them. All felines are friendly, vaccinated (initial doses), dewormed, deflea-ed, spayed/neutered, and microchipped.

HOW DOES THE EVENT WORK?
During our event, we will NOT be having folks reserve a spot in the cat lounge. So, walk-ins are welcome! $10 per person gets you an hour of cat time and light refreshments.

All kittens and their bios will be showcased on our website at www.chicocatcafe.com AND our page (see this post pinned to the top of the page). Adoption fees are $175 per kitten or $250 pair.

If you are interested in adopting, please observe the following:
1. Pick up an application at Chico Cat Café located at 1725 Esplanade in Chico. Fill out ASAP and return so we may get it to our rescue in time for the event to “pre-approve” you after visiting the kittens online! -OR-
2. Click on this link: https://catnipandcattitude.org/adoptions to download the application prior to the event and email it to them at [email protected] -OR-
3. Complete the application the day of the event.
We will also be hosting a Foster Pet Parent Info Night from 4-5pm...come and learn what it means to be a foster parent and how YOU can help our mutual missions (kitty kisses and playtime are a bonus!!)

Meet Joey! This guy is a talker! Sometimes a cat just has a lot to say. Meet Joey! maybe he’s trying to tell us his rescue story (he was rescued from the mean streets of Chico near Commerce Lane) and how he fought epic battles for food and shelter. Or maybe he’s just telling us how happy he is to be inside, warm and dry, with a full belly and the soft pets that he loves. Whatever story he’s weaving, we’re happy to have this social snugglypuss in a safe and loving place. Joey is almost 10 months old and has the softest gray and white fur! He especially loves tail base scratches and to be kissed on the top of his head. He spends his time in the lounge desperately seeking eye contact with humans - when he does, he slinks over and politely asks for pets. When you lock eyes with him, will you be a part of Joey’s new story? 😻🐈‍⬛

Here is our Adoptions Ameowncement for the last few weeks - 7 sweet and sun-shiny kitty souls found their forever hearts in their humans 👏

Stella (mama) #254 and Luna (baby) #255
You can’t beat a mama cat’s love – Stella was the first to greet every new cat into the lounge with a firm paw pressed onto their heads and immediate face baths. She was The Mother of Cats and absolutely relished in keeping spats at bay and spirits high. Her daughter, Luna, can attest to her mother’s endearing love for other cats – and has followed in her footsteps by being a nursemaid cat, always looking after others WHENEVER she wasn’t tackling someone or lap surfing. Stella and Luna, with their tender hearts and playful kitty ways, won the heart of Emily, who couldn’t bear the thought of separating the two and instead found herself welcoming the little cat family into her family as her own.

Figaro #256
Dapper Figaro is a true social butterfly happiest when he is receiving attention and being kissed on. Figaro’s dashing Tuxedoness and diminutive size enjoyed a captive audience, entrancing everyone with a bouncy flick of his tail as he sashays into the room OWNING it. All dressed up and nowhere to go. That is, until Michael met him and bought his act and the two have never looked back.

Oracle #257
Sweet and social Oracle has been a bright light here at the lounge. He’s like Folgers – good to the last drop and will perk you up just as well! Oracle, with all of his flame-point Siameseness, has the heart of a lion – he loves nothing more than to nestle into a human’s arms and be your cheerleader. As Amanda discovered while visiting with him, once you lock eyes with this guy, he reveals his huge heart and unwavering devotion AND his larger-than-life purr.

Waffles + Pancakes #258 & #259
These two sister-brother babies were found hanging out around the old IHOP building in Chico, and as GenXers, we just HAD to give them the playful nickname “The Breakfast Club”. What a curious and affectionate bunch they were, always ready to play chase and toss around toys. Mostly keeping to themselves when they first arrived, they have forging new friendships and breaking down stereotypes. Their inclusiveness got Emma’s attention, who felt like she became a member of the kitty Brat Pack once she discovered that sweet Waffles was a girl and fluffy Pancakes playing with her was her brother. We swear she jumped up and pumped the air with her fist like Judd Nelson!

Clifford #260
Clifford, the big orange cat, is, well…big and snuggly and oh so sweet. He is quiet and polite but once you activate his purr reflex, look out! He immediately warms to you and won’t let you go. Just the kind of cat Mason was looking for when he decided to direct his charm his way when he visited. It is hard to pass up a gentlemanly purr beast who just wants to give and get love - AND Mason promises to liberally dole out the wet food on demand since this big orange boy is a huge fan 😻😻😻😻😻😻😻🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛

Meet Everett! Everett came to us a few days ago by way of our rescue partner. A sweet local family has been struggling with some medical setbacks and asked for help rehoming their precious babies. He and Ivy are buddies and must be adopted together. Nearly 5-year-old Everett is a big and beautiful white and brown tabby boy with the most mesmerizing eyes. He is a shy but curious guy who loves to peek around corners and observe you prior to slinking away, which basically means he and his come-hither eyes lure you into his hidey hole where you are compelled to stroke his gorgeous mink-soft fur and scratch him in his favorite itchy places. Will you be bewitched by Everett's eyes enough to claim his as yours? 😻🐈‍⬛

Meet Ivy! Little Ivy girl came to us a few days ago by way of our rescue partner. A sweet local family has been struggling with some medical setbacks and asked for help renoming their precious babies. Ivy here is almost 2 years old but you'd never know it because she is the most kitten-like of adults: her stature may be short but she makes up for it in personality and her need to be everywhere all at once LOL. Even making eye contact with her makes her meow sweetly to politely request pets. She and Everett are buddies and most be adopted together. This little lady wants nothing more to be loved and to love her human. Please meet her and see if you are a match made in eye contact!😻 🐈‍⬛

Meet Clifford! Clifford, the big orange cat, is one BIG and BEAUTIFUL boy! This guy was born into a litter of 4 dittos over in Tehama County in June of 2023 and has been lovingly raised in foster care ever since. Clifford tips the scales at a snuggly 15 pounds and loves nothing more than to warm his human - so much so that he’ll race you to bed each night and become your very own personal purring heating pad. Nearly 2 -year-old Clifford is the friendliest male cat you’ve ever seen and very probably THE most affectionate, too. He is fond of long naps, head-butting his human for attention and politely asking for chin scratches and belly rubs. His favorite thing in the whole world is Fancy Feast gravy lovers wet food - YUM! Will you become his next favorite thing?? 😻🐈‍⬛

Meet Ghost! Rider and Ghost were rescued hanging around the Harley Davidson store on Mangrove Avenue in Chico! Do they have a penchant for Harleys or do they just enjoy people-watching? Maybe they show up for the driver’s classes LOL (Watch OUT - they may be learning a thing or two)! While they are slightly apprehensive at the moment, something tells us this is only a phase and once they get comfortable they will be entertaining us with their exploits. Rider is a sweet 8-month-old black boy and Ghost is about the same age and comes sporting a mostly white body with patches of gray tabby. They are BFFs (Best Feline Friends) so they say they have to be adopted together so they can luxuriate, talk amongst themselves in a language only known to fellow motorcycle enthusiasts and, of course, do cat things like groom (and annoy) each other, chatter at birds and show off in front of the girls. 😻🐈‍⬛
