Let’s talk about the different levels of dogs and how training meets them where they are.
First up is Azrael. He is still a puppy with a short attention span, so our focus was simple: sits, downs, and engagement work at the front of the park where there was plenty of space.
Then there is Grizzly. He has a history of reactivity toward people and dogs. For him, we kept moving along the path, redirecting his focus back to me instead of the distractions. We did not push too far. Crossing the bridge would have been too much pressure with the limited space and all the added stressors he was already managing.
Finally, Keila. She has been in many environments and has solid obedience, but she still needs to get comfortable in challenging places. We crossed the bridge twice, working through stressors like heights, lights, strange surfaces, scooters, dogs, kids, and even electric bikes.
Each dog was given just enough stress to grow without becoming overwhelmed. Training is not about pushing them to the edge. It is about finding that sweet spot where they can succeed and build confidence.
