We've received notice that the City of Chico will be working on our street starting June 7th 7am-5pm and completing by August 16th.

We will be out of town this weekend and closed on Monday as well. We will be with friends in Fallon NV finding pretty rocks! Feather River Lapidary & Mineral Society. We will resume normal business hours on Tuesday the 18th! Have a wonderful weekend everyone! 😁🐾

This is Stella and Ladybug. They are a rare breed called the Lagotto Romagnolo (la-go-toh roman-yolo).

The Lagotto Romagnolo is an Italian breed of dog. It originates in the marshlands of the Delta del Po in the eastern part of the Romagna sub-region of Italy. The name derives from Romagnol can lagòt, meaning "water dog". Its traditional function was as a gundog, specifically a water retriever; since the drainage of large areas of wetland habitat in its area of origin, it is now more often used to hunt for truffles. It is also said to be the ancestor of the poodle and most water dog breeds.

Past few weeks have been a little slow, but we've had some wonderful doggos come through! With summer fast approaching we will see more come in for summer cuts!

Two wonderful puppies!

For pet owners who like to take their dogs to the groomers I have a few tips that will help your dog not be scared of going to the groomers!

1) Play with your dogs feet once in a while so they get used to their feet being touched. It helps your groomer do "clean feet" or toenail trims.

2) Use a hair dryer on your dog once in a while so they get used to the blow dryers groomers use to dry them after being bathed.

3) Brush your dog's coat at least once a week so their fur doesn't mat up. Mats cause skin irritation and can be very difficult to remove. Some matting must be cut out or shaved out. That makes getting the look you want difficult or impossible for the groomer to get.

4) Play with their ears so that they get used to their ears being touched. This will help your groomer clean ear gunk out of their ears.

5) Restrain your dog for short periods of time. This will help them be used to being held in a restrictive manner for services such as toenails.

6) Take them to a groomer more often so they are used to the full services. Studies show that dogs who are groomed more often accept it a part of life instead of thinking that they are being punished.

The more your dog is used to these things the less they pull away or shy away from services. That makes the whole grooming process faster and easier for all involved. Many groomers, ourselves included, often charge less for dogs that are quick and easy to groom. This is not just for groomers either, as your veterinarian will appreciate the training as well.
