Thanks to almost two decades of experience in the clinic environment, Lizzy and Pricilla have been promoted to IT/CSR assistants! They will be resPAWnding to emails, CLAWntributeing to social media posts, and PURRviding IT support for any computer problems our staff run into. We ask our clientele to provide these lovely ladies with plenty of encouragement and understanding as they transition into the workforce. A bumpy start is expected, however we are sure they will thrive in their new positions with positive reinforcement and plenty of patience!

📸: Lizzy seems to be getting the hang of it, however Pricilla is still (shocked) adjusting to the workload. 🤓

🐶Happy National Puppy Day!😍

The only thing better than puppy breath is seeing our clients’ puppies grow into healthy adult dogs. Raising puppies is so chaotic, but oh so rewarding. One moment your pup will be snoozing peacefully and the second you turn away they are right back to tearing up the house! 😅

We would love to hear your favorite story about raising your dog!

📸: Boone and Luna. Weren't they just the cutest Heeler puppies? They have grown into the sweetest, most well-behaved dogs thanks to their mom's constant dedication!

🥳Happy birthday Pricilla!🖤

This sweet void is 15 years young today. Miss P loves rolling in anything stinky, pretending like she wants to be pet (then running away when you try to), and screaming for snackies. In fact, Miss P loves her crunchies so much that she often mistakes the sound of staff moving pill bottles as them picking up her treat container! 😂

✨Cheers to many more birthdays! We can't wait for her sweet 16 next year~🥰

Have you ever seen a purrito? 🌯

Cat bags are a great way to keep both your feline patient and medical team safe! Not every cat will let us poke and prod them without complaint, so sometimes we need to restrain them. Our staff are trained to recognize what restraint technique each patient does better with as they all respond uniquely. This helps make for a less stressful visit for everyone!

📸: Maleficent 😸 & Izzy 🐰 - Izzy noticed that Maleficent does great in a purrito (wrapped in a towel or cat bag/jacket). She was able to complete all necessary treatments while Maleficent was cozy in her jacket.

Dog parks are a fun way to exercise your well-behaved companion! 🐕

If you take your dog to parks, grooming, boarding or training, then we strongly recommend vaccinating them for upper respiratory diseases like kennel cough and canine influenza. The Bordetella and Influenza vaccines are an easy and effective way to keep your pet protected against common strains of these diseases. 💉

📸: Tigris is a big fan of going to the park! She loves to chase after balls and make friends with the other park visitors.

Happy Spring Forward! Is anyone else super tired after the time shift this last weekend? 🥱

Daylight saving time always throws pets for a loop. Their human's routine is shifted every so slightly, but that also means their feeding schedule is too! 😱

📸: BB was always very unimpressed with daylight saving!

🥳Happy Employee Appreciation Day!✨

Our hospital could not run without the hard work and dedication that every member of our team provides. We are so incredibly thankful for them every day! 💪

The hospital is closing early today at 5pm for a staff event. Thank you for your understanding!

We don't treat birds here, but some of our staff do own them. Crystal, our RVT, brought in this little guy for the team to meet. He's still very young, but look how vibrant those colors are! 🤩 He was super sweet and enjoyed socializing with Kyana, one of our CSRs.

Recognizing signs of discomfort can be tough since pets often try to hide it. Here are some signs to watch out for that could mean your pet is in pain:

😡Changes in behavior: Your usually playful pet is suddenly quiet and not eager to play. Your pet seems more grumpy or reactive when being pet or picked up.

🦵Changes in posture: Pets may sit or lie down in odd ways, limp, or stand with a strange posture.

🍕Changes in appetite: Pets in pain may lose interest in food or water. They might even refuse high value treats.

💇‍♀️Increased grooming: Pets may try to comfort themselves by excessively grooming and focusing on a sore spot.

🎤Changes in vocalizing: A painful pet may become more vocal than usual when in discomfort. On the other hand, some pets may become unusually quiet.

🚗Trouble moving around: Difficulty getting up, walking or running, or using stairs can mean your pet is dealing with joint or muscle pain.

If any of these sound familiar, then we recommend bringing in your pet to discuss potential pain management options.

We can all get a little anxious going to the doctors sometimes, including our precious pets! It makes sense! With all the new smells, new people, and the unfamiliar environment, Vet Clinics can sometimes be a very overwhelming experience for our canine companions. If your dog gets stressed coming in, then they may benefit from “happy visits”! “Happy visits” are focused on creating a positive experience for your pet, allowing them to get familiar with the environment and staff without any medical procedures.

A "happy visit" for your pet may mean:

🍪Bringing in your dog to get a cookie in the lobby or just to get tons of love from our receptionists. We absolutely love seeing our patients!

🐶Practicing getting on the scale. Some dogs are fine with everything at the vet except the dreaded scale. Our staff can work with you to help your dog get used to weight checks.

🚗Bringing them to the parking lot and giving them a treat can start building positive association with the area. Sometimes pets can be too overwhelmed to enter the lobby at first, and that's OK! You can work toward coming inside the building once they are comfortable in the parking lot.

⏰Keep “happy visits” short and sweet! For some pets, just coming inside the lobby is a feat in itself.

🦴Tip: Pets can be extra picky with treats when stressed, so be sure to use a high-value treat, meaning something that you are sure your dog is likely to accept (Greenies, piece of chicken, etc.).

📸: Hunter isn't the biggest fan of going to the vet, but he is gaining confidence with lots of gentle handling, cookies, and the love and support of his dad. ❤️

Happy International Dog Biscuit Appreciation Day!

Biscuit, cookie, treat, or bone: however you say it (or secretly spell it out), these snacks are sure to spark interest in our pets! Your canine companion may even know what tasty treat she is about to enjoy based on which specific cabinet you walk up to. While methods of delivery may vary, the outcome is the same: love! Treats are a truly amazing way to strengthen bonds, build trust, and reinforce good behavior.
If your dog is nervous coming to the vet, then treats may do the trick. We encourage pet parents to swing by with their dogs just to get a cookie in our lobby. No pokes, just cookies and pets from our front staff! ❤
