Some great rainy-weather tips!
🌧 It’s Raining Cats and Dogs! 🌧
The rainy season is here, and while it's a cozy time for us, it can bring a few hidden dangers for our furry friends. Here are a few rainy-season reminders to keep your pets healthy and happy!
💧Leptospirosis – This waterborne disease thrives in stagnant water and can affect both dogs and humans. It’s caused by bacteria that enters through cuts or mucous membranes, leading to some unwanted rainy day blues. Keep your pets away from puddles or flooded areas, and be sure they're vaccinated against Lepto!
🌊 Water Safety – It might look tempting to go jumping in puddles, but rain can make outdoor water activities risky. Always supervise your pets near rivers, ponds, or lakes as they may carry parasites, harmful bacteria, or stray fishing line! Additionally, hidden strong currents pose a high risk to our pets.
⛈Thunder Storms – Thunder can cause extreme anxiety in some pets. Discuss with our doctors if your pet tends to hide, shake, or vocalize excessively during thunder storms. A light sedative medication may provide your pet much needed relief during these loud events.
💡 Pro Tip: When you come back from walks in the rain, clean your pet’s paws and check their fur for fleas and ticks—they love wet, warm environments! Products, such as Nexgard, are great for preventing flea and tick infestations.
Let’s keep our pets safe and dry this rainy season! 🐶☔️
