This is a picture of Mr. Parker (aka. Porker, Mr. P). I met Parker at a park in Athens, GA. I was there taking a walk (contemplating life - I had just moved to a new town/state, was looking for a job, and was trying to get into vet school). Parker was skinny, intact, and not friendly. The park manager said he had been there a few days, Animal Control had tried to catch him without luck. I came back that night and brought him food - he growled at me. The next day I brought more food and he decided to trust me. About 5 minutes after he decided to be my friend Animal Control showed up. He was, sitting in my lap eating treats in a parking lot while growling at the Animal Control Officer. I had a choice - put him in the Animal Control truck or put him in my Honda Accord.
We had 12 wonderful years together. He was a huge goof ball who grew into a total love bug. When Parker was euthanized, the clinic I was working at made a clay paw print. This was the first pet that I had lost for which I had received a clay paw print. It now sits in a shadow box with two pictures Mr. P hamming it up for the camera. I am so thankful for the staff at ESVH for making his paw print - it is a constant reminder of all the joy he brought into my life.
Because I cherish Parkerโs clay paw print so much, Paws Finding Peace will provide a clay paw print of your beloved companion as well.
Telling Parkerโs story reminds me that some of the most important beings come into our life when we are least prepared.
