Daisy is still looking for that perfect family. She came to the attention of the rescue in early 2023 when she was found starving to death. She was literally a walking (barely) skeleton with skin. She weighed half of what she should weigh and she was literally being eaten alive by parasites. She also had a terrible eye ulcer and the vet was unsure that her eye could be saved. We vetted her while a foster took care of her. Once she got stronger, she started wanting to roam and eventually got out of the foster's yard. She was found by a family who said they wanted to adopt her so we "pended" her and stopped looking for a forever home as we thought she found hers. Needless to say, it was not meant to be and Daisy found her way to us once again. She is on the hunt for a loving family so she will never find herself in another bad situation or left on the streets to fend for herself. Daisy gets along well with kids and other dogs but she does have food aggression so she would need to be fed separately. We are sure that comes from her starved to death days and the fear that she will be there again. She does OK with cats but might chase them. Her foster had been working with her on stopping that behavior but she is now at the rescue and we don't have cats. Daisy loves to ride and walks on a leash, although she does pull. A halti or harness would probably work better for leash walks. She's a sweet, affectionate girl who needs to know what living the good life is all about. It doesn't seem that she has ever had that so she is ready for her chance! Just look at that smile now and her outlook for her future!
Note* Daisy is also heartworm positive so she will need to be kept on monthly Simparica Trio until she is clear.

JUST FYI! IT'S PARVO SEASON RIGHT NOW!!!!
CANINE PARVOVIRUS is a deadly disease. The virus attacks the gastrointestinal tract and immune system of puppies
and dogs. It can also attack the heart of very young puppies. Once infected and showing clinical signs (vomiting
and diarrhea), it usually takes a puppy several days (3-7 days) to recover with aggressive medical support
including antibiotics and fluid therapy.
Parvovirus is highly contagious and is spread through direct contact with other infected dogs or with infected
f***s. It is easily carried on HANDS, FOOD DISHES, LEASHES, SHOES, etc. The virus is very stable in the environment and can survive for OVER A YEAR in f***s and soil through extremes of heat, cold, drought, or humidity. While up to 85% to 90% of treated dogs survive, the disease requires extensive supportive patient care and can be expensive to treat. In untreated dogs, the mortality rate can exceed 90%.
VACCINATION is the most effective way to prevent disease associated with parvovirus infection. Infected dogs
should be kept isolated from other dogs for 2-3 weeks after recovery. The environment, bowls, etc. should be
disinfected with a dilute bleach solution (1 cup bleach added to 1 gallon of water)

Owner gave dog ibuprofen everyday for 5 days because he got into a dog fight and was sore.
