Huge props to this owner who went the extra mile! Not for me, but for herself! She didn’t just take the study material home—she reviewed it thoroughly and even created her own reference sheet. That kind of initiative speaks volumes to me about her commitment to mastering the training and picking up where I left off with her dog.

Dogs thrive off of fair structure, rules, and boundaries, whether it be during a training session, play, or the day to day how you live with them. These three things reduce boredom, anxiety, and reinforce all the good we want from our dogs. And the biggest of all?...They'll love us even more❤️

Socializing your dog can take anywhere from a few weeks to several months, depending on the dog's temperament, past socialization and experiences, and how consistently and well the process of socialization is done. Applying obedience commands and positive reinforcement during our outings, gives Jax a job to do that helps keep her mind actively engaged while soaking in new scenarios.

Every outing is an opportunity for Jax to learn, grow, and adapt. She gets better each time! Every new experience is helping her become more confident and obedient. Sooo proud of the progress she's making! 🐾

I’m gradually exposing Jax to new situations and guiding her on how to respond, helping her stay calm and composed instead of becoming overly excited or wanting to flee. Avoiding these behaviors is crucial for our progress, as they can quickly lead to other undesirables. Diesel, my dog, is very dog-neutral and a great asset in these situations. I put him in a sit-stay and worked Jax around him at a distance she was pretty comfortable with. She did great, and her reward afterward was playtime in the snow. But noooo eating the berries 🤦‍♀️🐕🤣🐾❤️

The Place command teaches Jax patience and boundaries, and the Recalls ensure she consistently returns when called. Practicing both commands together reinforces clear and consistent expectations and builds reliability with her.

Her leash walking is continuing to improve and she's learning to stay calm, and not rush in or out with chaos when coming and going out the door.

Taking your dog to different environments helps them become more adaptable and well-behaved around distractions.

I always limit, if not avoid all together, who can pet "training dogs" in public. Why? It simply helps create a calmer, more focused dog to not have all that. Constant petting from strangers can overwhelm some of them, or they can come to expect it at each outing. Either way, it can make them more anxious or excitable.
