Jon giving Iris her first lesson in going from a walk to trot under lead. Hmmm- Maybe, Iris giving Jon the lesson. She loves to move out. What a great ride she is going to be !
How many of you remember Hermes ? Well he is still doing well in Dressage with Leslie Kelly in Colorado. He is absolutly beautiful. Leslie's friend took him for a ride. Hermes is Leslie's second Drum Horse. Her first one was Turk, who is now an officer on the Kentucky Horse Parks Mounted Police Patrol. He is also fitted with a set of Drums by his mount Officer Roy Foster Jr., who is also a professional Drummer. Watch for them with Drums at Breyerfest 2024.
Jon has been working hard on Iris. She is turning into a very good horse. Did perfect for Cadence Salas our Farrier today, along with Namona. Good Job Jon ! Good job Cadence 9 horses done today.
A week or so ago, we posted a video of our two Drum Horse fillies Namona, and Iris. Someone made a reply that they still had their winter coats. I replied, it is still getting below freezing here. They both still have their winter coats, and it is still below freezing. Snowing right now. Welcome to Sprague River Oregon, May 5th 2024, at 4500 feet, 1372 meters elevation.
Today Jonathan spent some time with Miss Iris. This was the first time he did the lariat stimulus to her. It is amazing how she did. She is one cool filly. Good job Jon !
Jonathan at work with Gracie. Jon getting Gracie ready for the show ring. He is amazed at how sweet she is, and smart to. Gracie has only been shown once, a little over a year ago at the IDHA wear pink Virtual Show. She took first place out of 12, shown by a young man who was also, in his first show. You'll see her more this year. She is a little pregnant heavy, by Martin, , so any shows this year will be Virtual. A Monarch daughter.
Welcome to our newest member of Team Hytyme. Jonathan Junker, pronounced Unker. Jon has extensive equine experience since he was 5 years old. In his younger years, he rode Horses at auctions for their owners. He had and has a knack for making them look their best. He has had extensive work at high level stables training and showing Arabs and Saddlebreds. Here he is working with our sub yearling Nomona, on her first time loading. Note this is our big Draft trailer with living quarters. It has a high step in the back, plus a side tack room in the back making the opening less than half normal. As you can see, she did excellent on her first try. Namona will be listed for sale when Jon thinks she is ready, which at this pace won't be long. Namona is by our stud Sly who is a Silver Dapple, and Namona is probably also, along with her half sister Iris also by Sly. Will be keeping you posted on their development.
If you think about who is the most important person in the world who has done the most to promote Drum Horses since the breed established a Standard in 2005 by the then American Drum Horse Association, now the International Drum Horse Association. Simply put, I do not know if there would be a breedtype of Drum Horse, unless Rhonda Zeigler of Old Mill Farms one of the founders of the American Drum Horse Association, and a major factor with her husband arranging many of the legal formalities setting up the Association. Not only that, but Rhonda imported what many of us think, the best Drum Horse of the breedtype ever, and the first Drum Horse to set foot in the USA. Chewmill Guinness, bred by Francis and John McCormick His sire Galway Warrior was the second.
So I "Shout" a sincere thank you to Rhonda, who without her help and assistance there may not have been a breedtype of Drum Horse now. I am so proud she is working with us to promote the Drum Horse Worldwide. Rhonda us one wonderful and special lady.
