Owl Woman drying squash slices, this is a photo from the Gilbert Wilson Collection. Gilbert Wilson was an ethnographer who recorded the lives of Three Hidatsa families, Buffalo Bird Woman, her brother Henry Wolf Chief, and her son Edward Goodbird. Because of his work and the openness of these families, there are extensive records of farming and other traditional practices.
