We are seeking well organized, mature staff members to join our medical team! Looking for staff members who would thrive and succeed in the fast-paced sheltering environment.

Veterinary Technician - Licensed/registered in Maryland preferred but not required. At least five years of experience is required, with two professional references regarding professionalism and skill set. Shelter medicine experience a plus.

Job Summaries - Spay & Neuter Clinic
Oversee the operations of our spay & neuter clinic per nationwide standards and WCHS set policies and procedures. Schedule animals accordingly. Organize and train staff and volunteers per protocol. Prep, monitor and transport patients throughout the surgical workflow. Observe animals through surgery and recovery. Perform standard vet tech duties as seen fit by the Veterinarian.
Shelter - Perform intake examinations, assess the overall health & well-being of each animal continually, seeking veterinarian attention as needed. Perform viral testing, administer vaccines, microchips, and obtain blood samples. Perform daily rounds, and guide/train staff in standard shelter medical protocols.

Skills Required:
• Ability to follow well established shelter medicine protocols
• Enter medical information daily in shelter software system
• Advanced organization skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Intermediate mathematical skills

Job Type: Full-time – 40 hours weekly
Salary: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour, based on proven experience and skillset.

Veterinary Assistant – Works under the direction of the Veterinary Technician
Job Summary:
Work at both our Spay & Neuter Clinic & our shelter under the direction of Vet Tech.
- Assist veterinarians & vet tech with examinations, procedures, and surgeries
- Handle and restrain animals humanely during examinations and treatments
- Administer medications and vaccinations as directed
- Prepare, maintain, clean examination rooms and surgical areas
- Perform laboratory tests, such as blood work and urinalysis
- Clean and sterilize equipment and instruments
- Provide basic pet care, including feeding, grooming, and exercise
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals in the clinic or at the shelter
