Here's What Making a Difference Is All About!

The picture on the left is Scotty the cat HOPE rescued from the Orange County Shelter after HOPE rescued him and gave him hope!!

What a wonderful cat Scotty is. He's a favorite of ours. We love him to pieces and are so happy we were able to save is life!! We thank the wonderful veterinarian who helped to make Scotty whole again and to support him during his recovery with the best medicine and care!!

We may not post a lot because we are too busy saving lives and working hard to do what we can to help the dogs and cats that are so worthy to see another day!!!

Thank you to everyone that supports our efforts. We appreciate you all and so do all the cats and dogs we rescue and save!!

LOS ANGELES-BASED VETERINARIAN SUSPENDED

Judge Granted Interim Suspension Pending Full Administrative Decision

SACRAMENTO—Veterinarian Robert Dawson, DVM, and his veterinary facility ATSC Pico, Inc., have been suspended for 28 health and safety related violations that endanger the health, safety, and welfare of animals, consumers, and ATSC Pico employees.

The Veterinary Medical Board (Board) investigated the veterinary facility, where services are provided to many animal rescue groups, after receiving consumer complaints. The investigation confirmed significant unsanitary conditions and inadequate physical presence and oversight, among other violations.

Following the filing of a Petition for an Interim Suspension Order, the matter was heard before an Administrative Law Judge earlier this month. The judge issued a Ruling and Order granting the suspension against Dr. Dawson and ATSC Pico, Inc., pending a full administrative decision, stating, in part, that the “evidence raises serious concerns regarding the care being provided by Respondents to its animal patients; the cleanliness of the facility; and health, safety and welfare of the pets in care, staff at the facility and consumers.”

Dr. Dawson and ATSC Pico, Inc., are prohibited from providing any veterinary services to consumers and their animals while suspended.

Consumers are reminded to verify licenses are in good standing before seeking the services of any veterinary professional. To verify a license or file a complaint, visit the Board’s website at

Our Christmas Wish for 2023 would be to see photos from our adopters of our rescued dogs and cats that have been placed in their forever homes! We have been placing dogs and cats since 2003 and we'd love to see some of their photos and stories of how they are doing. If you adopted a dog or cat from us, please take a moment and check in. Every dog and cat was our dog or cat before they became a member of your family. Even though we may have loved them for a short time, they were still loved by all of us at HOPE! Meet Jack. He has a big story to tell. He was somehow lost in the Utah desert. A kind Good Samaritan happened to be traveling home to Upland from Oregon when they were passing through the Utah desert and saw what appeared to be an emaciated creature covered in burrs that turned out to be a dog!!!! After taking him into their car, they drove miles away to find an animal shelter to see if he had been reported lost. Finding no lost posts, Jack was on his way to Upland where he was treated for parasites and fleas. He has made a complete recovery and HOPE has taken over his medical care. He has been neutered and microchipped, too.

Jack is one sweet boy. Happy and friendly. He's a busy boy that would do great in agility. He's smart, too. He's strong and he needs some training which HOPE is working on. He's a great dog with a kind face. He needs a safe, loving, and active forever home!!

Let us know if you would like an application. He's going to be placed in the best home that will match his needs.
