The Chippewa Humane Association is a non-profit animal welfare organization serving Chippewa, and the surrounding counties, in west-central Wisconsin. We are located on County Highway S just outside of Chippewa Falls. We have the largest selection of New and Gently Used Pets in the Chippewa Valley. We are dependent on support through adoptions, fundraisers, and memberships and donations to keep us in operation. Thank you for your interest and for visiting our web site.

Did you know having a dog in your life can help reduce stress?
Even spending a few hours with a dog can help lower anxiety and stress. We are looking for fosters who are willing to do “daycations or “sleep overs” for some of our dogs. Getting the dogs out of the shelter helps their stress and in turn helps us learn more about the dogs!
Along with fosters, we are ALWAYS looking for adopters. Until September 10th, all dog adoptions are $50 off!

Minnie has been with us for almost a year now!
Minnie came in with her litter of kittens and she was a bit nervous with staff.

She went to foster and spent time decompressing and learning to trust people. She’s been back with us for awhile now and everyone seems to pass Minnie up.
Minnie doesn’t mind cats, or dogs, and she is up to date on everything and spayed. We are estimating her age to be around 1 1/2 years old.

For our Clear the Shelter event, all adult cats are BOGO, stop out and meet Minnie 🐾

We can’t believe Hunter is still with us!
Hunter is around a year and a half old. He was surrendered because he kept running away from home. He’s been with us for about a month now. He’s had applications and families have met him but they didn’t think he was the right fit for their family, or they no showed for their adoption appointment.

Hunter was neutered a few weeks ago, he is still learning that he cannot mark on things in the home. However, he is an absolute sweetheart and people pleaser! He gets along well with dogs, cats and kids.

Remember - now through Sept 10th all dog adoption fees are $50 off! That means Hunters adoption fee is $100! 🐾

Zoey went out on a Daycation this morning!
Zoey went to Irvine Park, she met a TON of new people, and even a few dogs. One was off leash and she handled it like a champ.

Zoey doesn’t show well when strangers walk past her kennel at the shelter. However, when she meets people outside of her kennel, she is AMAZING.
Zoey was surrendered to us due to housing along with Ryker (also up for adoption). She is up to date on shots, and we are working on getting her spayed.

Our kennels are almost at full capacity, with a waitlist that’s getting longer each day for dog surrenders. We need adopters, and fosters! Please consider bringing a shelter pet into your home!

Fostering can consist of:
Fostering until adoption (foster a dog in your home until someone is ready to adopt them)
Fostering to adopt (approved application needed)
Sleepovers (take a dog home for the weekend or a few nights)
Day-cations ( take a dog out for the day!)

Hey everyone, do you remember Avicci?
Avicci has come back to us, he was showing protective tendencies in the home and he was having trouble adjusting to the home.
Despite this, he is loving life. Avicci is a very special dog; and is without a doubt, a staff favorite. This guy is so expressive and can steal anyone’s heart with his goofy antics.
Avicci does have issues with strangers in the home. A trainer would absolutely be a must in his new home. He has so much potential for a family that can give him that.

Unfortunately, Avicci would not do well in a home with small animals/dogs. He has been exposed to other dogs in his last home and did well, but we would encourage a slow introduction. Avicci does have some skin issues, which are treated with medicated baths and Zyrtec, it seem’s to flare up in the summer months.

Avicci is 8 years old and neutered.
We won’t give up on Avicci - this guys family is out there 🐾

We have opened up one side of our dog runs for public viewing 🐾

On Tuesdays and Thursdays stop out from 4pm-5pm and walk through to meet some of our dogs!
Why aren’t all the runs open?
We have some dogs that are kennel reactive, finishing up their stray hold, or waiting for the vet to give them the final “ok” before getting adopted.

We have pictures and kennel cards of ALL of our available dogs to look at in the shelter as well.

Meet Atlas!
Atlas is estimated to be around 1 years old, and neutered.
Atlas came to us as a stray, when he came in he was quite a bit underweight, but after a few weeks of TLC, he’s reached a healthy weight.
Atlas is lymes postive and has done one round of antibiotics already. Because of this he does limp on his back leg every once in awhile but that doesn’t slow him down.
Atlas has a ton of energy but if he knows all attention is on him, he calms down so he can accept all the pets. He also takes tug of war very, very, seriously.

Belly scratches for days ☀️ Moose is still at the shelter! He’s been getting out for long one on one walks with staff and he takes advantage of every minute. Moose is amazing on the leash, and very well mannered, when he’s out of the kennel. But the shelter is not the environment for him. We are still searching for a forever home for this happy boy 🫎

Update on Twizzler & Licorice!🐾❤ These two kittens were featured recently in one of our special needs posts as they were in need of eye removals after arriving to the shelter with severely infected eyes. Licorice had surgery right away on Friday and is recovering in foster with his sister Twizzler. He acts like nothing ever happened and plays like any other kitten! Twizzler was scheduled for this past Thursday, but miraculously her eye started to heal! Her eye is now almost fully healed and both kittens will be available for adoption within a few weeks! Thank you to everyone who donated towards their surgery, any additional funds will be used towards the other animals in that post! Update on Beatrice!

Update on Beatrice!🐾❤️ Beatrice has had her amputation surgery and is now in foster resting and recovering. Thank you to everyone who donated towards her surgery! We have raised well over what we asked for and will be using the rest of the funds to cover the next animal that comes in needing help like Beatrice did. Thank you for all your support, we wouldn't be able to help animals like Beatrice without you!

It’s National Pet Day! Every pet at our shelter deserves to be highlighted today, but since they’re still searching for their new families. We’re posting them instead! Meet Jay! Jay came to us as a stray and he’s ready for his new home. Jay loves fetch, he could play all day if he could. We’ve considered crowdfunding for a fetch machine, the staff’s arms are getting tired. Jay is not posted on our website yet, but keep an eye out as he will be very shortly. Also, don’t mind the yard, with the nice weather, the pups have decided that sun bathing and destroying stuffed toys is their favorite spring activity🌸

🐾Piglet arrived at our shelter on October 24th, 2021. Since coming to our shelter she’s opened up a lot. She’s got beautiful green eyes and is very entertaining. She likes to dig around her water bowl before drinking out of it, so a raised dish is better for her. Piglet is a very independent cat. She can sometimes be very affectionate but has her days where she’d rather be left alone. She would do better with older kids and can go with or without another calm cat in the household. Piglet is up to date on all vaccines and is spayed.

ADOPTED 🐾Meet Stitch! Stitch arrived at the shelter back in October 2021 and was only a few months old. He was very scared and nervous at the beginning. He spent time in foster care learning to trust people and has really come out of his shell! He takes a minute to warm up to people, but once he does he will rub up on you and purr the day away. He does well with other cats and would love to have a buddy to cuddle with. Stitch is neutered, up to date on vaccines and FIV/Felv negative.

ADOPTED 🐾Lily is one of our longer term residents at the moment, she arrived at the shelter on October 7th, 2021. Lily is a sweetheart who spends a lot of time being our "office cat." She is constantly begging for attention/ sitting in our laps. Although Lily isn't a fan of other cats, she gives the affection of many so you wouldn't need another! She has been tested at the shelter with small/medium sized dogs and did great! She would also be perfectly fine living as an only pet! If she sounds like a good fit for you, apply today!💛

🐾Felicia is a beautiful girl who arrived at our shelter on 10/5/21 and is our longest cat resident right now. She was surrendered at no fault of her own, as her owners were getting older and could no longer care for her. She is about 8 years old, spayed, and is up to date on her shots. She was pretty stressed out living with 2 other cats so she is currently eating a urinary care diet to prevent bladder stones, due to the stress of living with other cats. We would recommend a quiet home with no other animals for our sweet Felicia. She is a very sweet girl who loves to get attention from her people, she loves to rub her head against you to get your attention.💛

ADOPTED 🐾Our little Maybel is up for cat of the week! She came in to us as a surrender back in August as she was getting too stressed out in her home with other animals. She is looking for a home where she can be the queen of your world and have you all to herself! She is a sweet girl who would make a perfect lap cat💛 Maybel is 3 years old, spayed, up to date on her shots, and ready to find her perfect forever home! 🐾She’s hanging out with us in the office today getting lots of love and attention and she’s very hopeful that she will get adopted soon💛
