We know insects, especially cockroaches are not everyone’s cup of tea ☕️ but be sure to keep reading to find out what makes them one of our favorite exotic pets 🤩 Despite there being a bad stigma around cockroaches, exotic cockroaches are some of the best exotic pets out there! Unlike the native, and introduced pest cockroach species found throughout the United States, exotic cockroaches hail from warmer, often rather humid climates, and require specific parameters to reproduce; meaning these cockroaches don’t posses the capability to cause an infestation in your home, should they get out 🙌🏼 So what’s so great about them? VARIETY! Exotic cockroaches come in an a vast array of sizes, colors, and demeanors. Some cockroach species are large, some are extremely colorful, and others are extremely laid back, making for an easy to handle pet. There’s something for everyone to choose from! LONG LIVED! Cockroaches can be long lived pets, with some species up to around five years of age 🤯 LOW MAINTENANCE! Cockroaches are extremely easy to care for and can eat almost anything. Entomologists recommend feeding a diet that consists of fruits and vegetables, dry cat food, or fish food, and rotting wood or leaves. That said, every species is different. If you decide to keep cockroaches as pets it’s very important to research the specific species to ensure you are feeding it correctly.
