We have a 2nd Four week Obedience Course for those that pass the first course. It follows our 4 week Basic Obedience Course. In this video, Maggie is in the 2nd week of this course practicing her Sit/Stay command. The owner leaves the dog in the middle of the ring, walks to the end of the ring, then back and forth, in a T pattern, then back to her dog. Success! We have another Basic Obedience Course starting the first Sunday in March. The cost is $70. To learn more please visit our page. We are located in Choctaw near the High School.
We introduce “Come” the first week of our 4 week course. We do this through a moving exercise as the dog does not yet know “Sit” or “Stay”. By the 4th week, for handlers that practice during the week a few minutes each day, the handler is able to combine the Sit, the Stay and the Come in all one exercise.
The “leave It” command is taught in our Basic 4 week course. It is introduced the 2nd week by leaving toys around on the floor, the 3rd week, their snacks are put on the floor and the dogs learn to leave them, receiving praise/treats when they do. The 4th week, we combine the “walking nicely on a lead” exercise with the “leave it” command. One by one, we walk the dog by my girl Molly. The dog (in this video, a 6 month old puppy named Scout) in this video is learning to leave other dogs along while walking nicely on a lead. The puppy was praised and given a treat for her job well done.
Scout, a 6 month old miniature schnauzer doing her sit and stays in the last week of our 4 week basic obedience course. If you would like to see more videos like this, please visit our page! Thank you.
Our 4 week course includes teaching your dog to walk nicely on a lead as being demonstrated by one of our students and her dog Maggie. This is different than competition heeling. It’s you and your companion being able to enjoy walking together without you being pulled around by your dog. If you are interested in one of our Basic Obedience Classes, check out this FB page for our dates and times available. If you are interested in seeing more videos like this, follow our page.
